Huge win yesterday. Let's get that 3-1 series win.
Cristian Javier, RHP: 3.72 ERA, 4.94 xFIP, 8.1 K/9, 2.6 BB/9

Martín Pérez, LHP: 4.28 ERA, 4.87 xFIP, 6.0 K/9, 3.0 BB/9
Key pieces vs. Perez: Martin Maldonado (.478 in 23 AB), Kyle Tucker (.412 in 17 AB), Chas McCormick (.417 in 12 AB), Jose Altuve (.286 in 56 AB)
Javier needs to turn things around, from his last start and in general. The last two seasons he has posted K/9 rates better than 11.5. That's where his success is; being extremely hard to hit and keeping runners from advancing. Despite a notable improvement in walk rate this year, the strikeout rate has cratered and his ERA has gone with it.

ROTFL Shawn Dubin was optioned last night after his great game. Bielak coming back up. I’m not a Dubin fan, but F no for Bielak. I was hoping he would not like the 40 man roster before the season started. When he had decent numbers, they were misleading because they were getting great contact off him. |

Other than his ‘behind the scenes’ preparation he apparently provides, there are no benefits to him being the starting catcher. If he is so important for preparing pitchers, he can do that from the bench. |
