Altuve is a mad man right now!

Why does Baltimore boo Altuve, did he cheat their 100+ loss team from going to the playoffs?

Man, even when they don't make the play, just off the leather and keeps the tying run from scoring.

So Dusty turned a possible 4-3 win into a 4-5 loss.

That's a shame. The Astros hit more than well enough to win this game but so many good plays by Baltimore.

I’m really annoyed with Dusty. Even simple things like pinch running for Bregman he can’t do. It doesn’t take Casey Stengel to sit in the dugout and not make moves.

We gained half a game on the Rangers which was unexpected given our opponent and theirs. I was surprised to see Brown out there in the 7th (and it obviously didn't work), but it remains a good thing that our offense doesn't give up late in games. Just couldn't overcome so many good defensive plays and near misses.

It would be nice to see a little more length in the lineup offensively, but they're still doing really well overall now.

Hard hit outs this game. Just the OUTS:
1st Inning: Bregman 101mph 2nd Inning: Dubon 99mph 3rd Inning: Meyers 101mph 3rd Inning: Tucker 96mph 5th Inning: Pena 99mph 5th Inning: Yordan 115mph 6th Inning: Diaz 106mph 8th Inning: Diaz 97mph
We gave them almost 3 innings worth of hard hit outs. A combination of good defense and horrible luck.

That 1-16 at the bottom of the order today was just brutal also. We're essentially rolling out 5- and 6-man offenses these days with no offensive support from 1B. You can manage carrying a Pena and a Meyers while their defense is good and salary is low, but we need to get more from the 6-7 hitters.

But if you say that, you’ll get the response of “you don’t need All Stars at every position” nonsense. All we’re asking for from the bottom of the order is better than AAA hitting. Maldy is like AA. All we ask from Abreu is at least mediocre production.

“you don’t need All Stars at every position” nonsense. But it's not nonsense. You don't need All-stars at every position. But you also can't (or shouldn't) carry completely incapable players who should be working at Home Depot rather than playing on your team, either.

I know but that kind of thinking justifies the playing of Maldonado and benching Chas and Díaz because “you don’t need All Stars at every position”. What they need is hitters who don’t die when they see a slider.

That would always give us 1-6 (provided Chas gets to play). That fixes both of those positions part of the time.

But for some reason, Dusty doesn’t like Yainer’s defense at first base even though he literally watches Abreu butcher the position on a daily basis.

What angers me about Abreu is the money he's cashing to suck tailpipe with his bat and glove. If he had Maldy's salary I wouldn't dislike him so much

If he had Maldy's salary I wouldn't dislike him so much It's the fact that it's still got two more years is my problem. We're likely not even going to get one good year out of it. I was all for it at the time, but man has this sucked.
