Wow, even Clay Hensley is questioning their drive.

Just back home, very disappointed in the Astros lack of not putting it all on the line.

Throwing error led to a sac fly. Losing a ball led to a second run. We lost by one run. That’s the popular opinion among people who don’t really understand sports. Are you one of those? It was a collective effort. Plays not made that should have been made, missing hangers, improper defensive alignment, swinging at crap, poor pitch execution, etc. All of those add up to an L. Repeatedly doing those things adds up to a bunch of Ls, which we’ve had the displeasure of watching for weeks now. One person always gets singled out for “losing the game” but in a team sport that’s a load of hot garbage. And so are the Astros at the moment.

I didn’t say he was the sole reason. 95% of it was the offense. I do follow sports, though, Mr. Touchy.

Just assumed having read your posts over time that you understood that one play doesn’t lose the game in a team sport. The annals of sport are littered with examples, but as an example the way Bill Buckner was treated was a travesty. Diaz certainly contributed to the loss but his gaff was just one in a series of poor productions that has led them to suck for weeks. And they suck at the moment. And it’s a combined effort.

My main point was that even though everyone (myself included) wants Díaz to play more than Maldonado, he’s being used as a scapegoat for a horrid offense. It wasn’t Yainer’s fault that his team lost, but ironically if you took away his miscues, the Royals only end up scoring once. Buckner was used as a scapegoat the way Maldonado is being used now as one for the offense.

The difference between a young player making a mistake and an older veteran making the same mistake is that with the youngster there is hope that he will learn from his mistake and become a better player. With the older player you just know he had his head up his back side.
This team is playing like the 2020 team. They could not win a game down the stretch and made the playoffs with a sub 500 team. That team got lucky and luck never does hold up forever.

I’m just surprised he didn’t say it was Crane’s fault, since he hired Dusty and fired Click and Dusty played Diaz who made 1 mistake and it wouldn’t have happened had Crane not offered Dusty a million pesos. That has been his recent take.
