Heard that Josh is being activated before tomorrow's game and Davis is being sent back down.......I wish they would explain why they think Marisnick and his pile of strikeouts needs to stay on this team. This is absurd.

It will be good to get Reddick back.

That outfield definitely needs a shot in the arm.

Now all we need is a real LFer.

I would have preferred to see Marisnick sent back down instead of Davis. I wish there was a way to trade some of our dead weight

I wish there was a way to trade some of our dead weight I'm okay with Davis being sent down if he's just going to sit on the bench. We need a real OFer for close situations late in the game, and that's where Marisnick's strength and value is at. We need a real LFer though. They need to get back to where Marwin and Marisnick are role players not starters. Whether it's trading for a 1B and moving Gurriel to third and Bregman to LF, or trading for a LF, etc. We need a real LFer that can hit productively consistently and isn't terrible on defense. They don't need to be an all-star but they need to be solid.

“They don't need to be an all-star but they need to be solid.” - SaintIt’s a good thing our Australian, Aclotruveera, from the old board isn’t around to see you say, “solid.”. I don’t know what “solid” means to the Aussies, but he chastised more than one member of the old board for referring to a player as being “solid.”

Aclo responded as if U82 had made some kind of derogatory statement about George. I don’t recall that he ever gave any explanation as to why he didn’t like “solid.”

I don’t recall that he ever gave any explanation as to why he didn’t like “solid.” I mean, I think would have considered George a little better than just "solid" but I think it's a good description for a good all-around but not all-star caliber player. Honestly, right now I consider Bregman mostly a "solid" player but with potential to be much better. Reddick is mostly just a solid player. And solid means they're a fine player. You need solid players to supplement your GOOD players. We have 3 good position players (Correa, Altuve, Springer), 4 "solid" players (Bregman, Reddick, Gurriel, Stassi), and then a bunch of role players (Kemp, Marisnick, Marwin, Davis, McCann) that have value in certain situations but really shouldn't be starting more than a game or two a week at most. It would be nice to get a couple more "solid" players to push our role players out of their starting roles. We can't expect every starter to be good, but we can push for them to be solid. And then Gattis falls in between role player and good depending on if he is on a hot streak or not. The guy can be horribly ridiculous and then look amazing. At the end of the year he has been a productive player, offensively, but he's so inconsistent. I think your avatar is a good example of a solid player. Doran was at least average at everything (sometimes above average) but not necessarily great at anything. However at the end of the day, he brought value to most aspects of the game.

I find nothing wrong with the adjective “solid”. To me it means a reliable, full-effort, decent power kind of guy.

Sherwin calling a player "solid" is equivalent to Spock's dad, Sarek, calling Kirk's career "acceptable"
