Astros offseason Extend Altuve 4 years/$100M Extend Bregman 4 years/$100M Extend Tucker 6 years/$200M Sign Lourdes Gurriel 4 years/$60M Sign YY (Japanese pitcher) - don’t know the amount Sign Josh Hader 4 years/$90M Go to the ALCS 8 years in a row, followed by 9 in 2025, 10 in 2026 That looks right for Altuve but I would expect Bregman is looking for bigger on likely his final mega deal opportunity. I think Tucker wants 8 years minimum. I’m torn on Tucker. If you want to remain relevant, you have to keep a good core around. That current core may be: Altuve, Yordan, Bregman, and Tucker.

Altuve is making just under $30 million per year right now, don't see how he takes a pay cut. Ummm b/c he is older and that future regression thingy you talk about If that affected contracts then no one over 30 would ever get a huge deal. Guys get paid as if they will not decline until they actually start declining. Altuve hasn't yet.

Again, they have no way to replace them anymore. You could let Springer walk because of Tucker. There is no next Tucker in this system anymore, barring a miracle. Bregman is the only legit 3B this franchise has developed since Ensberg. They can extend those guys or watch the window close.

Jose Abreu got a pay increase; his AAV is about $3 million more per season with us than his previous extension with the White Sox. That's despite being older and coming off a year where his HR total was literally cut in half.

By all appearances Altuve Bregman and Alvarez want to stay in Houston. That has not been established with Tucker. So we can want someone to sign till the cows come home but if they do not want to stay, they aint staying. So this off season my position would be to lock up Bregman, lock up Altuve, sign Gurriel, rework the pitching staff and call it good. We have at least one more good run for the title and we have the pieces still to make that work. Brown and ? need to take those pieces and turn them back into champions.

That's despite being older and coming off a year where his HR total was literally cut in half. Altuve is older (next season 33/34) and 4 years/$100M is greater AAV than his previous 7 year/$163M deal. I am thinking the Astros extend Altuve 4 years with 5th and 6th year vesting options. AAV ranging from 25 to 30M. And he takes it. Bregman will turn 30 on March 30th, so maybe he gets offered 5 year deal + options. His AAV will probably be in the same range, $25 to $30M. I like your L Gurriel idea. 4 years/$48M to $60M. Yuli Gurriel comes back for his farewell season, signs a minor league deal with the Astros. Astros try to extend Tucker but he wants to hold off 2 more seasons and play the market. Hopefully Melton is good enough that there is not a gigantic drop in production. I would love if the Astros finally became a top bidder for a Japanese player, and shock MLB by landing Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

Am I missing something with Gurriel? He's not a free agent until 2025.

The confusion is because some sites only track based on service time/years, and he wouldn't be eligible normally (he's accrued just over four years of service time despite being in the Majors the last six years). But his reaching free agency at the end of his current contract is actually specifically written into the contract. So he is indeed a free agent once the World Series ends.

Scherzer and Adolis Garcia both leave the game with injuries and the D-Backs still lose...

This series looks over. Has anybody watched any of it? Nope, just been following it. D-Backs look toast. Don't know how you give up 10 runs in two innings to a Garcialess lineup there. Getting exposed as frauds.

Getting exposed as frauds. I don't think you can call them Frauds per sea considering who they beat getting there. Once Texas be Houston there was no way they weren't going to win the WS. 5 or 6 games their offense is just too good.

Was Houston Frauds by backing into the West and losing every home game to Texas. Texas going on to the WS while Houston sits at home
