Maybe someone else needs to start one of these threads.
OPS after last night's game:
Altuve: 1.119 Diaz: 1.088 Pena: 1.076 Meyers: .980 Tucker: .887 McCormick: .745 Alvarez: .724 Bregman: .531 Abreu: .258
You can't keep putting Abreu in this lineup and pretend you care about winning. Singleton is at .522. Jon Singleton has literally been more than twice as good as Jose Abreu.

Agreed on Abreu. I think it’s time to move on from Abreu. He can’t even hit a center placed 90mph fastball. Not sure singleton is the answer but I don’t know what the answer is.

To be clear, I brought up Singleton not to say I think he's the answer, but just to point out that, if Jon Singleton is twice as good as you, you probably just need to retire. It's a 7 game sample size, but he's striking out nearly 30% of the time. Even last year it was less than 22%. He just looks like he's toast.

I wasn’t stating you were saying Singleton is the answer. I was just saying we don’t really have an answer. Singleton is the other option and he might be a tad better than Abreu (he actually walks). At this point, let’s just bring up Loperfido and see if it works.

They like taking their sweet time starting that service clock. I think they're probably not high enough on Loperfido that they would let that get in the way. In all liklihood, he's a super utility guy long term, not enough of a bat to start regularly (least of all at 1B). But they're going to have to make a decision at some point. You just can't keep putting a corpse in the lineup every day. EDIT: and FWIW Loperfido, has mostly sucked so far; aside from his impressive 4 HR in 6 games, he has one single and one walk against 11 K. He's barely hitting .200.

We need the bats to show up. France should be good to keep us in the game but he will give up 2+ runs.

Ashitaka were you surprised that Dirden got cut?

I just don't think Abreu goes anywhere before the all-star break.

I just don't think Abreu goes anywhere before the all-star break. He’ll probably be around until 2025 at the soonest.

At this point in his career, Jose just needs to stay close to the base. He gets out on base way too much.

I love you Altuve, but HF, how many times are you getting to get picked off in your career?

I’m really disliking Abreu. He can’t hit anymore, but hits a pop up out, on ball 4 with the bases loaded.

How long is this team going to keep a veteran infielder who can’t hit a fastball?

Well, expectations for Abreu are almost zero.

What a bad deal in hindsight. 2023 - Crane and Bagwell, Abreu and Montero contracts. I still can fault for the Abreu, bc it seemed great at the time. But seems like everyone else was like no way Jose for good reason.
