Hitting .302 with a .920 OPS. Altuve is .307 with an .854 by comparison. He's third in average (Pena and Altuve ahead) and third in OPS (Tucker and Pena ahead).
Maybe it's just a hot streak, but it sure looks pretty legit. I didn't realize he has only struck out 16 times in his last 30 games. His strikeout rate has gone from over 33% in 2022 to 25% last year to 19.6% this year after today's game. In his last seven games, he has just three strikeouts...and three times as many RBI!
Over those seven games, the team has scored 38 runs. Meyers has driven in or scored almost a third of them (5 R scored + 9 RBI - 2 = 12 because of his 2 home runs counting double). Prior to today's game, he was already 21st in all baseball among hitters with 100 PA in wRC+ at 155 and it will just be going up.

He's definitely finally looking like a regular starting player. Certainly too hot to bench.
They won't do it, but as much as I like Chas, an OF of Tucker-Meyers-Loperfido is the way to go right now. Chas isn't even hitting AAA pitching well.

Chas isn't even hitting AAA pitching well. Even when he does well, he looks so awkward at the plate and gets eaten alive on inside pitches. |

I’m looking forward to the Astros having a deep, strong bench. I can’t remember the last time the bench was really good.

Chas hasn’t earned starting time this season. Meyers has been crushing. |

Is Abreu really coming back? Has he played any minor league games? Can he hit a 95+ mph fastball? Heck, can he hit a 92+ mph fastball?
Rumor was he has chronic back issues.

He's only played in two rookie league games... He has 10 plate appearances with a walk. He is 2-9 in the other ABs with 1 RBI. I know he spent some time in the cages and other stuff, but 2-9 in the rookie league does not say "he's back!" to me at all.... I really feel this is a big mistake. I've been supportive of Bagwell mostly, but if this is him pushing the return, it's a major mistake. |

He's not going back to the bench unless everyone in this organization has utterly taken leave of their senses. It should be Tucker, Meyers, and mostly Chas, with some Loperfido (who can play other positions as well). They'll stop playing Dubon so much if they're smart. He's the epitome of the empty batting average guy. Nice weapon to have in key PH situations and all but beyond that it's silly to start him so often. I could see him platooning with Chas if they need to ease him back in for a bit though. |
