What do you fellas think about the Texas Nationalist Movement?
The long and short of it is that they support complete and total secession of Texas from the US, and reestablishment of the Republic.
Thereare days when when I find myself leaning toward supporting it. The Texas economy is certainly large enough.

It's a nice unrealistic dream.

I feel like we’re already our own country. Wish we could find a way to keep the loonies from coming in.

I support it, but it would come with some difficult and expensive infrastructure issues.
As the Fed continues to spiral past $23T in debt, there will be a day of reckoning where the fiat economy and nanny-state will take its toll, and crash. I hope its not in my lifetime, but it will happen someday. Our politicians have settled into a norm since World War 2 of writing and signing blank checks as needed. That balloon will pop someday.
When that day occurs, there will be worldwide strife that will make the '30's look like Childs play. By collapse + 10 years, you will not recognize world borders. Only the countries will sound economic bases, and those with marketable natural resources will have the least impact. I think the US would fragment in a manner aligned by a sovereign political and cultural elements. But how many? Who knows.
Before then, I just don't see Secession happening. I have heard both sides make compelling constitutional arguments, but if it ever reached a full SCOTUS "official" review, I'd almost guarantee that they would cite Article 1, Section 10 provisions around limitation of state powers.

But Texas should include anyone at least 100 miles from the East coast, West Coast or the Great Lakes.
