It would be really nice to see Morton bounce back with a good 6-7 inning game with 2 earned runs or less. And I want to see some more HR power from Gurriel now that he seems to be hitting the ball harder again.
The other day they were showing how much more productive he has been at 1B then our last previous several years worth of scrubs. I just keep thinking back to how we went so long with great 1B that we took it for granted. Davis, Bagwell, Berkman.... Back when 30 HR and 100 RBI and a .400 OBP was a given at 1B.

Since we’re gonna be in KC anyway, maybe we can just bring Herrera home with us when we leave.

If Herrera came here, wouldn’t that be too many fastball/slider guys in the same bullpen? The team already has Giles and Rondón.

I guess it would work. Anything to stop the reliance on Harris in pressure moments is fine. I was just thinking that a steady dose of fastballs and sliders in the 7th-9th innings could lead to a team coming back on us.

I don't even remember Marc KraussKrauss was one of the prospects Luhnow got from Arizona for Chris Johnson. From mlbtr: “By Ben Nicholson-Smith | July 29, 2012 at 12:26pm CDT The Diamondbacks have acquired third baseman Chris Johnson from the Astros for minor league outfielders Marc Krauss and Bobby Borchering, the teams announced. Borchering, 21, was Arizona's first round pick in the 2009 draft while Krauss, 24, was taken in the second round of the same draft.” I don’t remember Krauss or Borchering playing much, if any, for the Astros.

Trading for a reliever is risky. Two-thirds of all closers lose their jobs at some point during a single season. The Rockies spent nine figures building their bullpen over the winter, and their WPA dropped from 3rd last year to 16th this year. A team's bullpen performance can fluctuate so much from one season to the next, that there's almost no carry-over and a randomness as to whether or not it'll be effective. Even with moves that look good on paper at the time

So if you think your bullpen is your biggest potential weakness, what do you think the answer is to address it? Go after a starter and be prepared to get creative like Hinch was last postseason? In the end, I don't think we need to worry too much about making additions to help during the season, we should be looking at additions that will bring as much value to the postseason as possible. With our depth, even if we lose one or two players to injuries, we should be able to make the playoffs.

I'm not sayin don't do it .. just that it's risky when it comes to relievers. Cards spent $16M on Holland and he was a bust after like two appearances

I'd like to see Jake today. Why? To hold down a ten run lead.

I remember when Houston went to Chicago last year and got swept 3 by the lowly White Sox. I’m hoping this isn’t a trap series where the Astros lose 2 of 3 or even get swept.
Astros should win at least 2 of 3 if not sweep the Royals. Looking for Morton to turn it around tonight.

In a way pressure from the Mariners is a good thing, knowing up to this point winning this division will give them a challenge.

I wonder if he'll be here in time for action tonight?
I'd like to see both pitching and offense on fire. There's no reason not to blow these guys out.
