Outside of continuing to hit into DP's and bonehead moves on ghe bases, they did a great job. Why would Kemp try to tag and go to second on a fly ball to left? Why would Reddick get caught off third by Perez? A couple of brain cramps. Bright side is Sipp keeps pitching well so I may have to start a Sipp Appreciation Thread. After looking bad his first two trips, Gattis hits the slam that wins the game. I don't recall when an Astro has had the kind of streak he is on right now

I missed this game while at work but it sounds like a somewhat dangerous situation was dealt with successfully by Morton, and Gattis came through big (again).
While I anticipated Sipp to have a rebound year (I had pegged him for a 3.75 ERA this season), I didn't expect him to do this well. Luhnow must be asking himself whether it makes sense to extend the Gattis and Sipp contracts. I'd generally be against it, but Luhnow may think differently based on what he knows from the trainers/coaches.
It's downright frustrating how the Mariners are pulling out all these ridiculous wins, but right now the Astros just need to worry about the Astros and let the Mariners do their thing. In the end, the better team will win the division. If the Mariners were not getting so lucky, it might mean the Angels become the second wildcard, and for all we know that might create bigger problems for the Astros in the postseason.
Going to get some early sleep tonight and watch Keuchel's game. No need to slow down now.

The Astros now lead the AL in BA and OBP, and are third in SLG for a team OPS of .772. Closing in on the Bo Sox for second place.
Team wRC+ is now 115, just one point behind NYY who are at 116.
Pitching metrics don't see the pitching staff's ERA going much above 3.25, which is amazing.
