Why would he have confidence in Jake? Jake's Hot right now... I don’t think it matters if Jake is hot or not. He is going to be in the lineup more often than not, regardless.

I was saying I don't think its fair to White to be put in and only get one chance to show you can hit. Especially being on the bench for a few days. Sometimes I don't think Hinch puts these Guys coming up AAA a fair chance to succeed.

How many Batters have the Astros pitching hit lately? Seems like a lot.

Yep.
Maybe we bat around and give White another AB?

Stassi has to be close to 100 PAs now and is keeping pace steadily with Correa, Altuve, and other "stars" in terms of OPS.

I wonder how many times Brian McCann has been used as a pinch runner Probably about as many as Mike Fiers

Sure hope Stassi is OK. He's one of the Astros' best offensive pieces. Fedo and Stubbs are good too but not as good as Stassi.
IMO Stassi ought to be in the All Star Game.

Players were laughing in the dugout when Stassi came out so I assume it's nothing to worry about.........enjoyed seeimg Verlander appear to be telling pinch runner McCann to get a big lead.

Stassi has the highest wRC+ of any American League catcher with over 100 PAs (wRC+ of 128 coming into today's game -- will be higher after the HR). The only other AL catchers even close are John Hicks of the Tigers (120) and Wellington Castillo of the White Sox (112).
In the NL, Cervelli, Realmuto, and Flowers have hit somewhat better than Stassi... but those guys can represent their league in the ASG.
I know some people will point to Stassi "only" having 134 PAs as a reason he shouldn't merit consideration for the ASG, but catchers are in a situation where they often play only 40 to 60% of all games, so they can't be judged on that basis the way one would normally do with an infielder or outfielder.
Hicks has 174 PAs and Wilson Ramos of the Indians (wRC+ 112) has 227 by comparison. Maybe those guys end up representing the AL at catcher. However Stassi has out-played them in my opinion.

Bad AB for Stassi. Gotta close it up more and hit it to the right side. Is that one better for you? Well played.

The Astros are a juggernaut now. The pressure is back on the Mariners. Go Red Sox!

Stassi is sitting around WAR 1.3 now, and the next closest guy is Mike Zunino at 1.1. So even taking into account the fact that Stassi has only started around 47% of games, his contributions are still more than any other AL catcher's, offense and defense combined.

Bregman is looking like a beast right now. He’s turning well on those inside pitches. The same exact thing can be said for Correa.

Zunino hasn’t quite lived up to the hype. It’s hard to do so when batting .220 is a struggle.
