Oh boy... maybe Kelvin Herrera really will be wearing an Astros jersey this week.

Often the Astros exciting announcements are a let down.

I think I read somewhere the Round Rock Express are ending their affiliation with the Rangers after 2018. This press conference might be an announcement that Round Rock will be our Triple-A club again beginning in 2019. That's just a guess though

Nothing on mlbtraderummors so I doubt it's a deal.

Evan Gattis has been named AL Player of the Week. Was that the announcement?

"Luhnow, who has been named President of Baseball Operations and General Manager, received a contract extension that carries through the 2023 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed."

"Luhnow, who has been named President of Baseball Operations and General Manager, received a contract extension that carries through the 2023 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed." While it's not a player acquisition, it is the man who has done well doing that.

This bodes well for the future of the organization. I'm glad the Astros have Crane/Luhnow rather than the guys running the Giants, Padres, Mets, and Orioles.

Wasn't Reid Ryan the Prez of Baseball Operations?

Wasn't Reid Ryan the Prez of Baseball Operations? I thought he was President of the Astros. That would be over Operations and promotions/marketing.
I just looked it up. He's President over BUSINESS Operations. Now Luhnow is GM and President of BASEBALL Operations.

While not a player move, it’s good news. I just wish they’d save the words “major announcement” for player acquisitions. That’s kind of misleading.

I am also very glad we have CraneLuhnow instead of McLanePurpura...........Replacing Hunsicker with Luhonw was one of the dumbest moves in Astros history.

If he's not banking $7+ mil a year with this new deal, he accepted too little.

Raymond/Rain Man is still my boy regardless of Hollywood turning its back on him.

Todd Phillips would agree with you. The Hangover and Due Date both have a Rain Man motif to them

Got to admit heat, the "Wonder Years" of Eddie can easily be forgotten. Yeah, and the travesty of Tim "Golden Corral" Purpura. I wish I could resurrect that post of the faux news item I posted at the MLB site. Maybe it is still floating out there somewhere.
