Oso Blanco, like my boy Springer, is back in the .240’s again, and that statistic has always bothered me most about him and keeps me from believing in him fully. But that's about his career AVG. He hovers around .250/.300.475. Abreu (cough)...

He is streaky....if an Abreu can be had for a relatively good deal, I would be all for it...because he is a legit 4 hole hitter (if he was faster, he could be a 3 hole hitter).

I have an idea the White Sox want a LOT for him. Abreu is earning $13 million this season.and goes through arbitration next season. The White Sox value him as a leader in the clubhouse and he could provide the same for the Astros. My guess is that we go after him. It would be interesting to know what the White Sox want for him. They won't get Tucker or Whitley.

I feel like the main reason there’s a chance for Abreu is because Luhnow has always wanted to acquire him. Weren’t the Astros in the running before he picked the White Sox?

People were ready to abandon ship on Gattis again, and now he's starting to pick back up:
Last two weeks: .866 OPS Last week: 1.098 OPS
Still projected for 30 HRs and possibly 100 RBI (97 currently).

People (especially Sherwin) can not abide a streaky player. Most of them on this forum would abandon Gattis and his obvious contributions, but keep a loser like Joke, who is consistently horrible. Its inconceivable.

I can't imagine us bringing him back as a FA next year, but I remain very curious about what type of value he might have for somebody. He's essentially a slightly more offensively productive Moustakas with more consistent seasons, but less defensive value if he doesn't catch.

This thread is about appreciating Gattis not downplaying his lack of defensive contributions, you asshat.

I'm curious if the front office thinks there's a DH option in house that can hit 30 HRs and drive in 100 RBI next season

Evan Gattis = Class act.

From a WAR standpoint, Gattis is now our 5th best "position" player, and he has his OPS back over .800 (.808). Interesting considering he contributes no value at all defensively. On pace for 31 HRs and a career best 25 doubles.
And kind of under the radar with as well as Altuve and Gurriel have been with RISP, he is hitting .317 with an OPS over 1.000 himself.

He's lost some playing time (rightly so) with White being on fire, but he's still on pace for 29 HR 84 RBI and a .764 OPS.
If he reaches those numbers, he'll have averaged 25 HR 75 RBI for his four seasons as an Astro to go along with a 111 OPS+. Pretty solid production for a reasonable cost; even more so considering some of that came as a Catcher.

Unfortunately, White is on a cold streak now. I'm not sure I would call one hitless game a cold streak. It’s not about the amount, it’s the quality of AB’s. It’s a streak in its infancy. I didn’t mean to make it seem like he’s on an 0-for-25 stretch.

I feel differently about Gattis’s bomb because he has that pattern.
