Speaking of CFers, I didn't realize how poorly Blackmon was doing after getting that hefty contract. -1.0 WAR so far... Sorry -1.0 WAR means nothing to me
The .274 BA, 14 HRs and 35 RBIs and 60 Runs scored seem decent to me (.350 OB%)

In Colorado that's about average (as you can see from his 105 OPS+ -- 100 is considered average. Altuve is at 155 for comparison.) That also means his defense has been awful for a CFer.

Perez allowed 1 ER on 4 hits and a walk through 4.1 innings in spring training this year, which is the last time I've seen him pitch. Looked solid on the mound then, now it's time to see what he can against big leaguers. If Perez pitches so well that he can't be sent down, who would you want to see cut from the current bullpen? The injury bug has a way of making that decision a little easier but let's assume there are no lingering injuries. If you look at all factors, I would say Harris. You and I finally agree on something......I'd get rid of Harris and Giles if given the chance.

In an age where players fall to low .200s with high strikouts, I think Blackmon is doing a fair job on offense still despite being in Colorado. He has 11 HRs on the road, however he has slumped in June a bit.
I just don't like WAR being the measuring stick of stats. If you were to show me two players names (one had a 2.2 WAR and the other a 3.5 WAR) you can't convince me one is better than another without looking at the overall stats

He does have a higher SLG on the road, because he is more HRs away (weird), but his other numbers are noticeably better at Coors Stadium - BA and OBP...

WAR is not perfect, but it's normally fairly accurate in general terms. I would never say rely totally on it, but it's a pretty telling stat. Blackmon is having a solid year offensively, but overall his value is very low this year so far. It would be one thing if he had a low 1-2 WAR and I could see your point....but negative? That's bad even if you don't like the particular stat.

I admit that I was in the "Jake to AAA" crowd in May, but that was based on Jake putting up strikeout numbers which were moving him into the Top 3 most strikeout prone hitters in franchise history. The strikeouts were so bad that he had little hope of putting the ball in play, much less reaching base. In fact, Hinch *did* send Jake to AAA and even though it was a brief stint, it seems to have kicked off a period of improvement. Maybe it helped to remind Jake that his welcome on the big league team is not unconditional. It also helped that Jake faced some of the league's most marginal pitchers, including one HR off a position player. When Jake was sent down it sent a message to a couple of folks who had grown fat dumb and happy at the big league level. You produce or you go away. Jake got sent down and he has responded with a 259 average over his last 54 at bats. That is about twice what he had been doing before. Sometimes folks just got to get slapped up side the head to wake them up. Worked on Jake and by association on Gattis. So what is the issue.

And down goes Pérez again. I have to wonder why he was recalled and why they refuse to bring up Tucker while a useless klutz like Reed wastes a roster spot.

mlb.com said today that Cionel nearly entered a game -- he was told to warm up in the pen and had the inning lasted one more batter, Hinch was going to put him in.
He will have to wait to make his MLB debut.

Weren't you calling for his head two weeks ago, and Gattis before that, and somebody else before that? Crotch folds quicker than a cheap suit. Damn, I guess I missed this gem from the Pennsylvania buffoon who is supposed to be busy working with All-Stars in Florida. which is just another product of his wild imagination and inflated opinion of himself. I notice you like to use the word "crotch" fairly often. Is that another of your fetishes?
