With runners in scoring position and needing a hitter who I can trust to not chase bad pitches and not strike out, but to put the ball in play, I would choose Bregman over every other player on the team.., including Altuve.

Bregman would see more pitches but they're both about the same right now. Both with 47 Ks although Altuve has more ABs. Bregman hits for more power but Altuve makes contact better. Altuve has the better AVG with RISP but not by a lot.

I guess I would take cold Bregman over cold Altuve, but hot Altuve over hot Bregman. When Altuve is on he's amazing.

True. When Altuve is on he is amazing. I’ve gotta tell you though, I have never seen Bregman flail away at some of the God awful pitches that Jose flails away at....like the pitch he K’d on with the bases loaded and a 3-2 count in yesterday’s game.

True. When Altuve is on he is amazing. I’ve gotta tell you though, I have never seen Bregman flail away at some of the God awful pitches that Jose flails away at....like the pitch he K’d on with the bases loaded and a 3-2 count in yesterday’s game. 

The book is out on Altuve if there are pitchers out there with the balls to throw pitches like that with the bases loaded and a full count against such a lethal hitter.

Altuve does flail away at some awful pitches. With that being said, Altuve is one of the few players in the league who can hit a pitch that will be a ball and turn it into a base hit.

Your gripe against Alutve would have a lot more merit if he didn't lead the league in hitting for the last 3 years + has a good chance in winning it this year...(Altuve in 1st with 114 hits, second place is at 109)....(Altuve in 1st in BA as well with .338)....

There are scouting reports on all hitters. All of them have areas where they are weaker. Altuve has fewer weak areas than most.
