Our leadoff hitter is now 2 for his last 38 at-bats. Those are ALCS-like numbers there. He batted .190 in the month of June. Surely the law of averages has got to catch up with him soon.

Happy 4th of July.
The broom is propped up against the wall just waiting to be busted out with a sweep tonight.

Reached base 3 times yesterday. Improvement. His OBP is .200 over his last 15 games...including yesterday’s 3 OB game. So, yes, that is an improvement. His OPS over his last 15 games is .354 and BA is .077. I feel sure that AJ is trying to show George that he has confidence in him by leaving him in the leadoff spot through this dry spell, but good grief. There is something to be said for showing the guy some mercy.

Altuve looked bad at the plate by striking out twice on pitches no where close to the strike zone and flying out by swinging at a pitch that was head high. Seems to be in a place where his brain is taking a holiday

Was I the only one not upset at Altuve’s line drive lunge moves yesterday? When it doesn’t work, it looks stupid, but I can never get mad with him taking a conscious opposite field approach with a runner at first base.

I can't either except when he goes after a pitch not even close to the strike zone as he did yesterday TWICE. First time, the pitch was further outside and in the dirt and he struck out. Then, came to line drive that doubled George off first base. In another at bat, he went after one over his head and hit a weak fly ball to right. He had terrible at bats all night.

What is so irritating is that he is too good of a hitter to do some of the dumb things he has done at the plate over the last few games like not taking a bases-loaded walk against TB that would have tied the game and then having two similar swings last night.

I have a feeling Altuve breaks out today. He's had good success against Minor and he did almost have a double down the line yesterday.
I predict at least two hits.

Too bad his "almost" double was when he swung at a pitch way outside the zone and ended up being a DP that killed an inning. Bad judgment created that "almost double" I won't be surprised if he gets 2-3 hits today and I won't be surprised if George has a good game.

Does anyone recall ever hearing what caused Correa's "back stiffness"? If it was something that happened during a game, I don't remember it.

He did his job. Unfortunately, someone was right there to catch the ball.

Does anyone recall ever hearing what caused Correa's "back stiffness"? If it was something that happened during a game, I don't remember it. Correa has been fighting nagging injuries since early June. I thought it was a hand injury, but it might have been the rib. But he aggravated it and went on the DL and now he's fighting back soreness. I think they're all related. It has affected his swing because he now guesses at the pitch rather than react to the pitch. I haven't seen him check his swing in a month. He either swings and misses, swings and squares it up or his sits there with the bat on his shoulder no matter where the ball is thrown.
He and Springer are looking pretty much the same at the plate, except that Springer will check his swing occasionally.

Angels up 3-2 on the Mariners, runners on the corners with no outs (top of the 5th).

If he had done the same thing and the pitch had been a strike or even close to being a strike, I would share your opinion. As it was, it was a very poor decision that killed an inning.

I don’t follow you. He could’ve had the same result if the pitch were in the zone. It was a solid last liner regardless.

Still wondering why Luhnow traded for this punk when every team in baseball knew of his reputation as a loose cannon. The Mets had just killed a deal they had with the Brewers for him and then Luhnow brought him to Houston where he was A cancer. No doubt the entire clubhouse celebrated when they let him go. I am surprised the Rangers didn't try to re-sign the jackass.

But, the pitch was not even close to the strike zone so it was a bad decision.
