May 4, 2017, the Astros walked 10 times and still lost to the Rangers, 10-4. Musgrove gave up 5 runs and Gregerson gave up 4. Man, why does it feel like Gregerson last pitched for us ten years ago?

I woke up this morning fully expecting the loss. Thanks for the posts to give me a brief summary of the comeback.
I'm off to Galveston this morning. I'm taking a friend to a Doctor's appointment since her car is broken, again.

That’s the greatest video game throw I’ve seen in a while. Way to stay aware, George.

Then you would know what a no offense team was.

Odds are the Astros are in the playoffs. It’s just a matter of what position they are in after 162 games. They’ve accomplished quite a bit going 58-31 after winning the WS. Just 1 1/2 games from the best record in MLB.
I don’t think that sinks in to fans on this forum at times, including me. No one likes losing but it’s part of playing 162 games.

Fan Graphs has us at 98.3% today of making playoffs. Who'd bet against that?

Fan Graphs has us at 98.3% today of making playoffs. Who'd bet against that? The only way they don’t is if 2 teams in the AL West pass them. Meaning Seattle and, at this time, Oakland.

If the goal is to make the postseason, we should all be more than satisfied. If the goal is to repeat as champions, better get on them phones, Luhnow.

And everyone knows that's not gonna cut it in OctoberIn today's game the strike out has become the norm of the game. In the 60's when Gibson, Drysdale, or Koufax and along with the strong pitching the Stros through out during the later half and early 70's, seeing 10 to 12 strike out games were reserved for the big boys. Now you see journeyman pitchers having that number by the fifth or six inning. As for the alarming number of DP's, first you have to get runners on, but game strategy could eliminate a few, but that again is not part of the game of today.

Luhnow's gonna do what he needs to do, but it's the bats who have to win it. If they want to repeat, they have to remember what Beltrán taught them. It's like you said the other day about getting all happy and swinging at anything on an 0-2 count, versus seeing the ball and fouling-off a close pitch being the difference. Channel your inner-Beltrán .. WWBD

You have no idea who was on the board during those years. Are you dumb enough to think usernames can't change?? You know what dumb is crotch knowing the difference between a cutter and a breaking ball. Asshole, I know exactly what dumb is.......I am reminded whenever I read one of your many posts that you use to try to impress people. I am not the only one who called you out on that crap about the cutter and the breaking ball. But, since it seems to be so important to you, I will reiterate.........Breaking balls and cutters BOTH move or there would be no need to throw them. Both, if thrown correctly, create MOVEMENT. Cutters "move" or "break" towards the pitchers glove hand and the action on a good one is between that of a fastball and slider. It BREAKS or MOVES as do sliders or curves just not in the same way,.....The cutter does not MOVE or BREAK in the same manner, but, both are thrown for the same purpose....to get hitter out. Since you think you are a qualified pitching coach, why don't you explain all of these pitches to us so as we can all take advantage of your vast knowledge and experience? Now, if that is too complicated for you or you need further help, maybe one of those "all stars" you claim to be working with in fantasy land down in Florida can help you with it. I have made a point not to respond to your posts on this board so as to try to avoid similar confrontations such as those on the old board. Yet, you continue to childishly stalk me with your little sarcastic remarks. You have proven to be a childish old man who wants to feel like he knows everything and just can't keep from acting like a child who craves attention. I tried to leave the things that happened on the old board behind, but, like the childish old fool you are, you just can't stand to move on.........Could be an early sign of some kind of mental disorder that you need to have checked out.

I miss Beltrán supposedly being the spy. His bat was another story.

Am I supposed to high five people when they lose? That's the point. They didn't lose, they won. The team is in first place but you wouldn't know it around here. People know that but they can be irrationally passionate about losses as well as thinking that a second championship is in the bag this season. You get both sides. As far as Tim saying our fan base can be the worst, I mean the Yankees fans booed Stanton during his first homestand. I don’t think we’re anywhere near that level.

I'm thankful we're not like Yankees fans. I would never want us to get to that level. You expect perfection and it's not going to happen. You need to take the good with the bad. I'm happy we're sitting on top even with our struggles.
