Both have benefits. Lately we've needed the offense more. Surely you agree with that. With the way the offense is Cold then Hot it is a hard one to call. But if they are keeping both White and Kemp up to showcase them. Then they need to play almost every day and produce and if that happens do you really want to Trade them. Depends on what we would get. We don't have a big need for White if they want to keep Gattis next year. A lot depends on what they want to do with him.

That applies to about 5 guys that will have to be moved or be lost in Rule 5. We can't protect everyone we think will be good eventually. We saw Luhnow move Kemmer and Hoyt this week. Hoyt was on the 40-man roster so that frees up a space to protect one of the Rule 5 eligible guys. We are probably going to see some more moves like this between now and mid November. Some guys I think are most likely to be moved: Reed Kemp White Boshers Gustave Guduan Paulino Rodgers I wouldn’t be surprised to see Martes and Derek Fisher moved as well.

I think Kemp is still on the team to promote him for a trade. You just wanna git rid of the Afrikan Muricans.

Nobody is going to want Reed. Look at the market for Moustakas last off-season.
Power and nothing else guys are practically worthless these days. And Reed hasn't even shown any power at the major league level.

Glad Tucker is here and in the lineup. However, the useless Tyler White should be the one going to Fresno....White is a mediocre defensive player at any position and has not proven he can hit consistently. Jake Marisnick has proven to be an outstanding center fielder who has saved us countless runs and is a valuable base runner to use in late innings when a run is needed. Proud they called up Tucker, but, they made a bad move and sent down the wrong guy. I guess they are waiting until Correa comes off the stiff list to send White back to Fresno. White gets on base. So does Kemp. With our pitching they're obviously less concerned with our OF defense and more concerned with keeping the offense steady. Which isn't a bad idea. White still hasn't collected a sufficient number of major league PAs this year for his stats to stabilize. He has this gaudy 25% walk rate through 27 PAs and a ridiculously slow SLG as he's yet to hit a HR. Give him 50 more PAs and the BB% will come way down and the SLG will go way up. In spite of it all, his work so far equals out to a wRC+ of 130 and an OPS+ of 120. That would make him about the fifth most potent hitter in today's lineup, if he were in it.

We don't have a big need for White if they want to keep Gattis next year. A lot depends on what they want to do with him. A 1B/DH with wRC+ in the high 120s ought to get attention from other AL teams, especially when the player is as cheap as White. White's major league wRC+ last season was 126 and so far he is running at 130 for 2018. If you combine those two seasons together, you are looking at a body of work of about 100 PAs and wRC+ is far higher than the league average. What he's done for Fresno should assure trade partners that his major league hitting in 2017-18 has been no fluke.

Cough! Ed Wade Cough!

Today's game seems bigger than even Correa's debut. It's probably best to assume Tucker won't go on to become an Astros legend, but if he does, we will all be able to tell the story of watching his first big league regular season game.
It was a nice touch on Hinch's part to make sure Tucker got to play those final couple spring training games at MMP.

I liked seeing him point for 1 out. It's a little thing, but it let's me know his head is in the game.
