He's a little bit of a douchenozzle at times, imo, but the guy is turning into a legitimate threat. He was productive and had potential his first two years, but he is our most productive hitter right now. Which is impressive considering the guys we have on this team.
He's on pace for:
32 HR 101 RBI 106 Runs 174 Hits 49 Doubles 14 SB 90 Walks .285/.385/.531 158 OPS+ 7.6 WAR - That's almost as good as a typical full season was from Jeff Bagwell.
He's not in contention for the league MVP at the moment, but, even though Altuve is having another excellent year overall, I think Breg would be my choice for team MVP if the season ended right now.
And he's the first Astro to participate in the HR derby since....Berkman? I doubt he'll win but at least this makes the derby a little more entertaining this year for me. I wish the players weren't such pansies about it "messing up their swing"....

Right now, Bregman and Gurriel are the only ones I want at the plate in a game situation.

By the way... just to put in perspective what Bregman has done so far this year.
Bregman 66 Rns, 106 Hits, 30 Dbls, 20 HRs, 64 RBIs, 55 BBs, 53 Ks, .288 avg, .388 OB%, .926 OPS, 4.7 WAR
Judge 65 Rns, 95 Hits, 19 Dbs, 25 HRs, 60 RBIs, 66 BBs, 126 Ks, .277 avg, .395 OB%, .946 OPS, 5.1 WAR
Since June 1st 51/158 .323 avg, 37 Rns, 15 HRs, 40 RBIs, 1.100 OPS
JD Martinez in that span has 10 HRs and 32 RBIs for 1.040 OPS

Bregman's power nunbers are above what I expected this early in his career. Right now, he is the MVP of the Astros.

Correa's "stiffness" is still a mystery He has missed all these games, sitting on his ass most of the time, and they have yet to state the cause of the problem. He needs to suck it up and get back to work.

Correa needs to step it up. Correa's "stiffness" is still a mystery He has missed all these games, sitting on his ass most of the time, and they have yet to state the cause of the problem. He needs to suck it up and get back to work. For all I'm concerned is Correa can take as much time as needed as long as he is ready to go around September and ready to smoke the ball in October.
We will win our division outright. Most likely by early September. If Houston doesn't have the best record in the East then so be it. Boston will be tough but not unbeatable.
If Houston gets to the World Series then they will have the home field advantage.
1-Red Sox 2-Astros 3-Indians 4-Yankees 5-Mariners
Even if the Yankees have a better record than Houston, the Astros will still have home field advantage in the LCS since the Yanks would be a Wild Card
"In the event that a wild-card team has the better record than the other qualifying team that is a division champion, the division champion still gets the advantage and hosts Games 1, 2, 6, and 7."
So really the Yankees don't matter if the Red Sox win their division anyhow. Not to mention in this scenario the Astros wouldn't have to face the two other best teams in the league before the World Series. They would play the winner of them.
If we had the best record then most likely we'd play the Yankees ALDS and Red Sox ALCS. We'd have home field for both though.
Otherwise its Indians ALDS (HFA) and Red Sox ALCS (no HFA) or Yankees with HFA

Correa needs to step it up. He needs to suck it up and get back to work. They told JR the same thing back in 1980. Let's get to the bottom of this before speculating effort or pain tolerance.

I was one of those talking about effort and attitude problems. Turned out it was in his head, but a stroke, not attitude. Not everything shows up on routine testing.

It would have helped alleviate suspicion if the club had given a reasonable explanation as to how Correa acquired this "back stiffness". Instead, they were tight-lipped and said nothing which leads to the idea that he either had no back stiffness or the problem is more serious tham we have been led to believe. Let's hope he is back soon. I don't think we have a right to invade Correa's privacy, but , if his off-the-field activities are preventing him from doing his job, the club and the fans who help pay his salary have the right to a truthful explanation instead of the getting the run around which we have been getting since this thing appeared out of the blue.

I never said he should risk his life to accelerate his way back into the lineup. I’m saying that if he wants to talk about trying to be an MVP, then he should step his game up. You don’t do that by taking strikes and swinging at pitches in the dirt.

Correa has produced below expectations so far this season and much of it is due to what you said.......taking pitches he should hammer and then striking out at pitches well out of the zone.

At first, I thought people were joking about Correa’s girl causing his injury. I’m starting to think they’re serious.
