"Is a Blockbuster Trade in the works?" No. At least not for Verlander. Why would the Astros give up their best pitcher before the postseason (who we have for another year) not to mention several additional prospects? On a tangent, I’m so glad the “we don’t need Verlander” people crawled into their holes and died after the World Series. Without Verlander, there would still be no World Series champion in Houston. Verlander is NOT going to be traded to LA for Trout or anyone else. Just because he and Kate want to raise kids out there doesn't mean Justin won't be an Astro for at least this year and next.

To be sure, I want Verlander here as long as he wants to be here. But we know it would take a HUGE package for Trout and IF he wanted to go, he could be a HUGE piece of that package.
But anyway, I like stretching my imagination rather than work within the closed confines of PROBABILITY predictions. But I see a warning of fantasy thinking falls on deaf ears. It just provides ammo to those who get off on putting down anything other than group think.

On the old MLB a year or two ago, I compiled a complete Astros stat sheet on how our players have performed in the ASG since the team's inception.
Unfortunately, the board is gone, and I can't find that spreadsheet. One thing I did remember though, is through fluke, or for whatever other reason, we have been poor contributors to the mid season classic. Almost horrific.
My question to the other Refugees.... Aren't we due a breakout performance, and who will it be? Or are we jinxed in this thing.
P.S. Kill the freakin' sideshows like the Home Run Derby. Quit making our game like the NBA.

This seems to be Bregman's coming out year so I would say him. Altuve has never even gotten a hit in an all-star game.

If it was 2 years ago, Will Harris had a good contribution shortly thereafter. He was brought in the 8th after Andrew Miller loaded the bases, and got the hold with a K He preserved the 2-run lead and the AL eventually got the W

A while back Oswalt had a good inning in the 2nd or 3rd inning and was on pace to be the winning pitcher, but the NL blew the lead after he went out later.

Apparently, Verlander has not been replaced on the roster, even though he pitched Sunday and is scheduled to pitch Saturday. I thought Bauer took over for Verlander right away. Since they knew Verlander was going to start Sunday.
"In addition, player-elected All-Star Justin Verlander, who is scheduled to pitch on Sunday, July 15th, will be inactive at the 89th Midsummer Classic. MLB has selected Indians starter Trevor Bauer to replace Verlander on the active roster."

Would you rather Kimbrel or Severino close When the Yankees had Severino in AAA, that was their choice of seeing him as a late inning guy or closer. I assume they have him in the right role now.

That would make everything balance. He wasn't included in the article on replacements at the All Star game I was using.
