10:00pm: Prospects Jorge Alcala and Gilberto Celestino are going to Minnesota in the deal, per Jon Heyman of Fancred (via Twitter).
9:54pm: The Astros have struck a deal to acquire reliever Ryan Pressly from the Twins, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (via Twitter). Further details are not known at this time. Pressly appears to be bidding adieu to his now-former teammates, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press tweets, so it seems that this deal is on the cusp of being formally announced.
Pressly, 29, has taken a big step forward this year after showing solid peripherals — but generating only a 4.70 ERA — in his 61 1/3 innings last year. Through 47 2/3 innings in the present campaign, he’s sporting a 3.40 ERA with an eye-opening 13.0 K/9 against 3.6 BB/9.
Better still, Pressly is earning just $1.6MM this year with another season of arbitration eligibility left to go.

I think the drubbing the Astros are getting tonight might be a blessing in disguise. Lately, all the games have one or two runs as the pitching held up. Tonight all aspects of the game have been the worse showing this month outside a 1 hit game. But even in that, they didn't look as bad as tonight.

It’s starting to look more and more like the price is too high for Luhnow. I personally think the bullpen is set with Smith, Rondón, and perhaps this Pressly guy. I still think they need a decent bat.

I still think they need a decent bat. if this week hasn't shown Luhnow we need another bat, he hasn't been paying attention. Getting ONE hit in Colorado and being hammered by a pitfiul Rangers team is embarrassing. This is one of the most embarrassing losses of the season. On top of this, Keuchel didn't look good, either.

That ERA has gone up about 3 points since Tampa. He’s been struggling for quite a while now.

We are making Gallardo look like Cy Young The Astros were supposed to save that for the AA pitcher in tomorrow's game.

I don’t think this lineup has 6 runs in them. Need some runs. At this point, I don't think this team has a couple run less lone 6. They aren't showing any fight. This is what happens when you don't look to upgrade after winning the WS. They stayed Pat and it is costing them. They won earlier in the year mainly because of the Pitching. The offense seemed to pout for most of the month of August last year after everyone got disappointed there were no big trades in July. Are they pouting again now? Or just out of sync with Altuve and Correa gone? IDK.

We are seeing why we must trade for bullpen help......Devenski has turned into crap Gotta wonder if Devo's got something wrong with his shoulder, elbow, or whatever that's causing him to throw all these meatballs. No point in trotting him out there like this. He can't even mop up. Time for the DL and let someone like Cionel, Framber, or Arm&Hammer have a shot.

I wonder if we'll see Devinski hit the DL soon. He has allowed 8 runs on 7 hits with 2 BBs and 3 HRs in the past 2 games without recording an out.

Put him on the dl and then send him down for an extended rehab assignment in AAA.

Today's Rangers starter, Ariel Jurado, comes in with an ERA of 7.71.
That's still better than Ken Giles at AAA by a whole ERA point.

The Astros have always made that guy look good. He takes advantage of their impatience and willingness to take corner strikes.

I think Omaha would've beaten the Astros last night. This team doesn’t formulaically beat tough opponents like they did last season, and it worries me for the postseason. You can only beat up on bad teams for so long.

We have a pretty tough closing schedule They K so much more than last season. They were such battlers at the plate. The approach is the main difference from what I’ve seen. I hope they turn it around.

I hope they turn it around. This late in the season it is doubtful that they will. The ones strike out are the ones that did it consistently before last year. They all went back to their norm. What was surprising was How Much Springer and Correa and Altuve are striking out. What has Hudgens missed on his working with the offense. I still think they should have turned over several players as it was obvious that they had career years. That they wouldn't continue this year.

He K’s more but has less power. Pretty much everyone has declined except Bregman and Gattis. That’s not good.
