Alright ..... OMB tin foil time.......
I find it interesting that our two best players are having extended times off for what at the time appeared to be tweak type injuries. This also seemed to be the case last year with some pitching, Kuechel included.
Discuss.....
(1) Pennant races may be pretty much over this weekend if BOS keeps beating up NYY. Only race left could be SEA v. OAK, but I exepct the M's to fall back to their level of expectation. (2) BOS has also opened up a 7 game lead on us. Do we even have much hope for No. 1 seed, and secondly does it really matter. I would just as soon see CLE in ALDS, instead of NYY. (3) Also on the matter of No. 1 seeding. We seem to play a hell of a lot better on the road anyway. Does it matter. How about we just finish 1 game better than any NL team, so we can get 4 WS games if that pans out. (4) I believe getting more playing time mid season for role players will keep them sharper for the post season. Plus reduce fatigue factor for starters.
Point.....
Anyone else thinking Luhnow is shrewdly using the DL and other standings dynamics to set us up better for October? Should we expect more mystery illinesses/injuries in the interim? Jeff sure didn't wow us this July with trade strategery, so ........

The weirdest thing about this season is how they’re so mum about injured players. I just heard McCann will be back by September and will DH a bit before returning as starting catcher, but the updates have been seldom. It took a while to hear anything about Correa, and Altuve’s progress hasn’t been divulged for a bit.

I thought that only applied to divulging personal info.

Why would you think medical issues aren’t personal info?

Why would you think medical issues aren’t personal info? I guess you’re right. It just seems more secretive this time around.

Agree. Much how the NFL weekly injury list is a joke. I think more and more, teams are adjusting strategy (pitching, reliever rotation, etc.) on who they expect to see in the series.
If I was a MLB manager, I'd be abslolutley mum on lineup, right up when the cards are taken up the ump (or if as earthly late as possible) if that isn't allowed.

I understand HIPPA, but they sure have been coy on injury severity (which isn't subject to HIPPA) or timing of return.

Why would you think medical issues aren’t personal info? So how does the NFL circumvent that? They list what the injury is, and status of playing that week.

We lost no ground on our lead in the division. 3.We got to take a look at our young playes. I am not saying I don't want so-called home field advantage, but, we have had a road advantage most of this season.

They used the 10-day DL to rest Keuchel and McCullers last season. They may have had some soreness at times, but, I always doubted that they needed to be on the DL. I was suspicious of Correa's "stiffness" when he first went on the DL. I think in his case, they are being overly cautious, same with Jose. I expect both back in the lineup when we start the next homestand against the Mariners. Could be in SF, but, I doubt it. They have already said Altuve won't play in LA.
