It doesn't matter. If they close it down, we will go on with our lives. I'll spend the time I previously spent maintaining the forum doing things I enjoy. No sir. We will just make a new forum.

Just to make things perfectly clear. The vast majority of MY COMPLAINTS had nothing to do with you. They were in order: 1. Congress - for passing an UNCONSTITUTIONAL LAW abridging free speech by merely calling it HATE. 2. Proboards - For using this law as an opportunity to censor politically incorrect speech. It will not be done even handedly because PC speech is not considered HATE by them and TRUTH is considered HATE if they don't like the TRUTH. 3. This is you - Not looking for an alternative host due to the above. I UNDERSTAND why you didn't, but like the robot in LOST IN SPACE, I hear the message,"DANGER..." when confronted by these attempts to sidestep the protections of the CONSTITUTION. 4. I absolutely believe Proboards has the right to go silently into the abyss if it so chooses. It appears they have.
An UNCONSTITUTIONAL LAW can only be litigated when someone violates it and takes it to court. The SCOTUS does not give advisory opinions, ever. The Constitutionality of the law can only be reviewed if Proboards or another host makes a challenge. I don't know what others may have said privately, but that is the full extent of my discontent. I wish you were not put in that position and I really wish you didn't think the griping was primarily aimed at you. Dude, drop it. We've moved on and don't want the board gone.

Guys,
The problem with this board is there was never a set of rules initially established, therefore, no moderation was ever really enforced. From the get go, the law of the board should have been put forth. Instead we decided to police ourselves, which when it comes to online message boards, is always going to fail.
Once the ProBoard rules were apparent, that should have been it. Any bringing up of the subject should have been deleted, and if users persisted on bringing it up, warnings, then bans. This falls back on the moderators to enforce rules.
Now, I get it. Moderating is a tough job, believe me, I know. Running this board is a tough job. It's the reason NONE of you, including myself, wanted the job. Bringing a board up from scratch is difficult. It's the reason I had always suggested moving to an already established site such as Reddit, Clutch Fans, etc.
With all that said, if fanastro is going to do the job, there needs to be an actual set of rules established for our community. And when I mean rules, I don't mean we all take a poll on what rules should be established. I'm saying both Bortaz and fanastro need to create some rules, or else there will be nothing point to when infractions occur. The rules need to be made, and if they hurt someones feelings, so be it. They're free to create their own board and make their own rules. Our own set of rules need to be created (in adherence with ProBoard rules), and stickied on the front page for all to see.

“Our own set of rules need to be created (in adherence with ProBoard rules), and stickied on the front page for all to see.” —- batman007 Agreed. I can remember, when I was in one of my classes in junior high school many years ago, we were discussing the subject of one’s “rights” as an American. During this discussion our teacher made a statement that I have never forgotten...., “Your rights end where mine begin.” Proboards is not a government entity, but a private business and as such has the right to establish the rules as to what conduct will and won’t be tolerated when a person is on their property. Some folks...liberals, conservatives, folks in between....have the mistaken idea that the constitution gives them the “right” to freely speak anything they want to at any time, anywhere and with no repercussions whatsoever. No. As my teacher said to us about 55 years ago..., “Your rights end where mine begin.” If one of us goes to a restaurant, has a little too much to drink and starts talking rudely to another person in that restaurant, the manager has the right to remove us (or have us removed) from that place of business for violating the rules of conduct concerning what will, and will not, be allowed at that private business. I don’t think any of us would dispute that. It is the same with respect to our “right” to come on this board and post anything we want to post. Our “right” to say whatever we want to say on this board ends where Proboards right to establish the rules of conduct on their property begins. Proboards did/does not violate anyone’s “rights” by insisting that we comply with the rules they have established concerning our conduct while we are on their site. If any person finds Proboards’ rules offensive, that person is free to stop coming onto Proboards’ property.

All good points, but Bortaz will not be setting any policies. I told them what wasn't allowed. If they continue with their behavior, the board will be deleted. It's as simple as that. I spent a lot of time and effort setting this place up. Only to have a few twats try to ruin it. I wont be spending another second of my life worrying about it or trying to enforce rules. I tried, at the beginning, to get everyone's input on rules, to no avail. I tried to get volunteers to moderate, to no avail. If the forum is deleted, good riddance.

I can tell everything that transpired has left a sour taste in your mouth, and I can empathize. I’m not sure if you care or not, but it’s probably safe to assume that PB wouldn’t have given us a warning unless a complaint was filed, and it’s probably safe to assume that the complaint was filed by Eddie. I can also empathize that Eddie probably did it out of revenge, because he went from thinking he had friends on here to having no friends in a relatively short period of time. Folks lash out when that happens to them
Now that Eddie’s IP address has been banned - again another smart decision and move you made when you were in charge that shouldn’t be understated - there’s probably a good chance the issue won’t come up again. Whether you appreciate that or not cause the experience has made you ambivalent at this point, I understand

That’s the thing though, Bortaz, trying to get everyone’s opinion just doesn’t work. If you’re done, then you’re done. Fanastro needs to set up the rules of the board and they need to be stuck on the front page.

Could just copy the Proboards rules and add in a process of disciplinary escalation for those caught breaking the rules. Makes it easy. One warning is a suspension for 30 days, second warning 6 months, third and you're gone forever.

I agree...still at a loss on how people can be that ungrateful...i like the group of people from the old board ....but truthfully I am not resourceful in these aspects as you were: I would never created this forum, formatted it or even recruited as well you did....I am thankful and grateful... So when someone acted like it was nothing; anyone could do it, I was like BS! You stepped up big time and I am very appreciative... Sincerely, The Pisser Sidekick.

It's tough for any group of message board people to move to a knew board. Specially a board that is already established with rules and regulars. Everyone here was so used to being self policed on the Astros board, and the group of regulars everyone was familiar with Hell, once Bortaz had to mod some people and delete some threads that violated pro boards TOS, a select few got butt hurt they had to follow rules and vowed to leave. I can imagine how well that would go over on a board that already has rules established and enforced.
