Tyler White is earning his spot in the lineup......Game winning home run in SF and then a double and home run tonight. Maybe this time he will continue being consistent. He has good power and is now showing it and deserves to stay in the lineup. Tonight, he, Jake, and Kemp did most of the damage. We got let down big time by Bregman, Gurriel, and Gattis........Bregman has not been good since the break and I think that home run derby appearance has hurt him and this team.
Glad Davis is on the way to Fresno and Correa is being activated. Now, let's get Altuve back.

Even if those guys aren't at 100%, they lengthen the lineup and teams/opposing pitchers have to make adjustments and have added stress.

With Davis, he appeared to keep being worse......probably pressing too much. In any case, he is the one who needed sent back.

Bregman is learning a lesson Samson learned many years ago. Don’t let anybody violate the locks. Bregman needs to study tape of him hitting before the break and how he has done since. He has not been good at all since the break. I do wonder how much the players study their own tapes. For example, if you look at Tyler White's slump in 2016, you see right away that he was pointing his toes way out toward right field, and that at the moment of contacting the ball, he had his right foot on the ground while his left foot was still up in the air. That made his swing very unbalanced and the result was batting avg around .215. After a few months of retooling in Fresno, he started pointing his toes more East-West and his left foot was planted firmly on the ground before he contacted the ball. The result was hitting in the .260s (and now the .280s). Big difference. I haven't reviewed Davis's tapes from last year and this year to see what has changed. In spring training he was a team leader. It seemed he could do no wrong. As with White's experience in 2016, the best place to work out the kinks is in Fresno. That gives lots of ABs and chances to get it right. Staying up with the Astros provides only around 10 ABs per week which really doesn't allow a hitter to get into a habit of good mechanics.

How do you gentlemen feel about having White compete with Gattis for a part-time DH role. Hinch barely likes White taking the field but appreciates his hitting. Gattis is about as consistent as Texas weather. Just throwing that out there.

For the playoffs if we follow the 13 pitchers and 12 hitter model that we have had most of the year then who will those players be:
Pitchers: Verlander Cole Morton Keuchel McCullers Rondon Osuna Pressley Smith McHugh Peacock Sipp Devenski
Hitters Stassi Maldonado Gurriel Altuve Correa Bregman Gonzales Kemp Springer Reddick Gattis Marisnick
So who gets cut from the 25 man roster to give White a spot. Unless he goes into the toilet, he deserves a spot. Right now I would say Devenski.

I am guessing Kemp...if Correa, Altuve and Springer are all healthy, and if White is bench along with Marwin, Gattis and Marisnick, I would see Kemp as the odd man out...based off intangibles (defense and position overlap).

I bet they keep Kemp over White unless White just continues to mash the way he currently is. Kemp gets on base better and has more defensive and baserunning versatility.

I don't see why they would need 13 pitchers in the playoffs....One or two of the regular season starters will be in the pen. i would rather have 13 hitters. If I had my way, they could carry 27-28 players on a playoff roster
