i wanted Luhnow to go after Adam Jones before the trade deadline.......we never heard if any talks every happened.
I won't hold my breath until Correa puts this team on his back....he is not aggressive enough and often looks as if he is analyzing each pitch insteade of getting ready to attack. He needs to be ready for a good pitch to hit and go after it. He continues to hurt himself by taking fastballs he should hit, especially with RISP.

I think he does....but I think a good, experienced veteran hitter, one the younger guys can look up to, added to this team would do wonders... The thing is who would be that player, ... Good question. If I understand the waiver process correctly, if a NL team waves a player he would have to go unclaimed by all of the NL teams and then unclaimed by all the AL teams before Houston would get a shot at him. If an AL team waived a player he would have to go unclaimed by all the AL teams before Houston got a shot at him. Hard to believe that Cleveland, Boston, NYY, Oakland and Seattle will all pass on a healthy player of any significance and allow him to fall to Houston.

I hope I’m wrong, but I just don’t see the Astros getting an impact player before the waiver deadline passes. I’m afraid AJ is gonna have to dance for the rest of this season with what brung him. Not all that encouraging. His dance partner got off step about two months ago has been out of step ever since.

If Altuve is not back by this time next month, I think they miss the playoffs entirely.

You are right about the waiver process, where the player has to be passed over by teams, and they can block a player as you mentioned. That is why this part of the season, would be tough. I know on YES network this past season they have mentioned how JV was untouched.

Luhnow will not find another Verlander as the other teams will not allow it.
His reluctance to trade for a bad in July will come back to bite him. I still think this is Luhnow greatest flaw. Being able to trade like the other GM's. If they always only want his top then give the players away to another team for lesser players something is wrong in his trade approach.

What would the "kids" learn from Cutch or Donaldson that they can't learn from watching Altuve go about his business?

Maybe there’s something to bearbryant’s theory of Beltrán being the glue guy, the guy who taught them what pitches to look for and how to battle in counts. Whatever the case may be, this is not last year’s team. Apparently from the beat reporters Beltrán was chirping at Strom non-stop about the staff tipping its pitches. Whatever it is the default for this ballclub appears to be not concentrating. And Reid Ryan should be grateful Luhnow got Beltrán to come here for a season

I still can’t believe how perfectly he hit that 2-strike pitch to tie the game.
