FWIW White has played a total of 54.2 innings in LF in his milb and mlb career. He has handled a total of 7 chances and not made an error. I don’t know how much stock you put in RF, but his RF in milb is 0.83 and in mlb is 1.00. Doesn’t look too encouraging. He definitely needs to be in the lineup, if at all possible though. Would you move Bregman to LF and Yuli to 3B so that White could play 1B? I know Hinch won’t move Bregman out of position to make room for a guy like White (wouldn’t want to hurt his feelings), but would you? |

There are two guys he can replace....Gurriel and Gattis. When you have those three, only two can play first base. If those two are hitting better than Gattis, then, bench him and use White as the DH. I won't be surprised to see a move made to bring in a bat before the waiver deadline. |

They took him out of the rotation and put him in the pen, but, moved him back after Paxton went on the DL. |

White couldn't be worse than Beltran in LF, but Hinch would certainly prefer to keep him on the infield. At Fresno this year and last, White played a lot of 2B, 3B, and even SS. Not very well, which is to be expected with his size and his newness to those positions, but he does have some clue as to what he's supposed to do when he's not manning 1B.
This is a puzzle where the pieces don't all fit and you just have to make do with what you have.

White is really not that bad a fielder. He is no "glove man" by any stretch of the imagination but if we had him as the dh next year year he could let a bunch of guys have days off in the field while he rotated in. If he keeps hitting Gonzales and Gattis are gone this winter.

If Tucker is not going to be getting any at bats, kick him back down to get some batting time. I just don't think he is there yet, the time in the majors has been good for him for experience, but I think he needs another year. Could try White in LF and let's just see, shoot he may even burn a few lbs while he out there. |
