Keep that momentum going! 7-1 since the return of Altuve (although he is only 1-9 with 6 Ks in his last two games).
Unfortunately, Reddick, Gurriel, and Correa continue to struggle (some moments of success but we need more consistency). I'm wondering if Correa wouldn't benefit from a day off.
On the plus side: JV is due for a dominant game. White is still on fire. And Springer is suddenly getting on base well. (Even his GIDP yesterday was just bad placement. He hit it well.)

Oh, and how do you know I can't figure them out? I can figure them out, but, I'm not stupid enough to solely rely on WARk OPS, etcl I go by what I SEE with my own eyes. I observe when a player hits, the quality of pitching he hits, and what he does with RISP. I also see if he advances runners into scoring position even though he makes an out. Since you seem to ignore batting average and run production, I put very little stock in your opinion although I respect it. You were right to suggest we stick with White even though what he was doing at the time made you look wrong.

If Pujols had any integrity, he'd admit hes unable to perform, and would retire instead of robbing the team of tens of millions of dollars a year.

The only change is White and Gonzales swapping places in the lineup. It's about time.

I have been around the game long enough to know that stats don't reveal the total value of a player or his lack of value. I have never said that WAR, OPS, or any other stat is totally useless. I just don't go totally by them. I don't go solely by batting average, RBI, etc. I have seen lots of players who regularly hit around .220 who were very valuable to their teams. Mark Belanger played SS for the Orioles back in their glory days and seldom hit over .230, but, Earl Weaver kept him in the lineup. Most managers today would check his stats and decide he didn't have much value. Since you constantly refer to WAR, OPS, WRc+. etc. i assume you don't know shit about the game other than what those stats tell you.

Scioscia wore him out by catching him every day. When he came here, he had caught more innings than any catcher in the AL. He was tired when he got here and he swung the bat like itl Once he got some rest, he has begun to hit much better. He has been a valuable pickup for us and even with MCann, Maldonado is the best catcher on our roster......maybe not the best hitter, but, the best catcher. His OPS with the Angels means nothing in evaluating his value to the Astros.

His OPS with the Angels means nothing in evaluating his value to the Astros. Generally a larger sample size tells a better story. Bear was surprised by Maldonado's production because historically he is utterly pathetic at the plate. So seeing a pathetic hitter with a better OPS+ than our 1B would be very surprising. Maldonado's time with us has certainly been much better than his career has shown, which...thank God because he was awful offensively before coming here. Hopefully he continues to do well for our sake.

However one chooses to rationalize Maldy, he underpins how awful Gurriel has been since the All-Star Break by comparison more than anything Since the break Yuli's hitting
.205 .250 .307

Yeah, we're going to regret that contract next year if there isn't some improvement soon... The fact that he can play some other positions if needed helps, but without quite a bit of improvement, he shouldn't be an every day player next year.
He could be the new infield Marwin, I guess...

I have to agree with you on this. I have been a big fan of Yuli's but you are right about him since the break. Right now, White or Marwin should play first base and Gurriel be benched,. Unless we deal for an outfielder before the waiver deadline, I"d put Kemp in LF, White as DH, and Marwin at 1B

When Jake is activated...and I expect him and McCann to be on Saturday......Jake will get time in CF. Our best defensive OF is Reddick-Marisnick-Springer from left to right. Let White DH with Marwin at 1b
