Right now the Astros have 88 Wins. If they go 14-7 in last 21 games they will tie the 86 Year team for most wins. If they can go 15-6 is last 21 they will set a new Team Record.
If they can keep this pace up and no more injuries and Altuve and Co. come around I think they have a very good chance.

I think it will depend on how much the As press us and how the team responds to being pressed. I could see us winning 102-103 games and Oakland winning 100. After this weekend we really have a pretty easy schedule to finish the season.

I'm not sure where the Pythagorean record stands, but it looks like in September the team is slowly catching up to its "expected" record based on RS/RA.
The staredown thing, the bobsledding and so forth really seems to have added some levity to the dugout which is helping the guys not press so much at the plate.
Altuve, Springer and Correa seem to be returning to health just in time for the playoffs, a few minor leaguers have exceeded expectations... I would say things are looking pretty good for the postseason right now.

We've been winning more by more than 2 runs than by 1 or 2 runs.

The emergence of some of these minor leaguers is going to give Luhnow and Hinch some really hard decisions re: playoff rosters.
I'm sure some people in the front office will argue for experienced postseason veterans like Sipp and Harris.
Others will favor looking at the actual results of the season's work and prefer the emerging players who are hungry to prove themselves.
No matter what choices they make, they are sure to be second-guessed. Nature of the beast.

If the argument is between whether we put Devo or James, (if James is even eligible), on the roster then it is easy. But point well taken there will be some guys who would normally be on the roster who will be left off.

I'm pretty sure that neither James nor Deetz are postseason-eligible since they didn't play in any games prior to September 1. I think Cionel Perez and Framber Valdez are eligible but I could be wrong. Of the lefties, Hinch will have to choose from among Sipp, Valdez, and Perez. Sipp did pitch well in the 2015 postseason and has been effective this year, but Valdez would bring the option of multi-inning relief which Sipp does not. Sipp has generally had better control of the ball than Valdez in what we've seen this year but we've also seen Sipp fall apart many times, esp in 2016/17.

They only have to be on the 40 Man, not the 25 man roster prior to Sept 1st. It didn't use to be that way.

The way James pitched yesterday, there's a real possibility now Devenski Sipp, McCullers and Peacock don't make the postseason roster. Feels weird typing that after Game 7 ALCS and Game 3 World Series last season

Sipp has pitched like trash over the last month. With the way some of our RHR do against LH batters we may not go with any lefty relievers in October

I'd take him and Valdez and leave off Harris and Devenski. Having James and Valdez gives us a stronger staff overall. We would only use 3-4 starters in the playoffs which would be Verlander, Cole, Keuchel, and Morton.

Didn’t Deetz serve a suspension for PEDS this season?
