There are a lot of eagles that nest about 6 miles down the lake from my house. When I first moved up here I came out on the patio and heard some rather severe movement over the top of my head and took a step further out on the lawn and looked to my right just as an eagle had to alter course as a dove flew into the cedar tree. It is crazy what those wings can do. From time to time you can see them on the ridge line of a house looking for dinner. It is really something to see.

We took a cruise up to Alaska a few years ago. While docked at Juneau, there were two bald eagles that lit on the lido deck railing. I stood there talking to them like Dr. Doolittle.

Cats go missing all the time around here, mostly fox, sometimes a mountain lion, but I think the eagles take a few as well. My son has a couple of little dogs and he brings them up for us to dog sit for him when he goes traveling about. The area that I keep them in is only about 20x20 and has a 6' fence. On top of the fence running in a criss-cross random pattern I stretched some fishing line. The eagles see the line and they do not drop in for a snack due to their concern for what they do not see.
About 4 years ago I was fishing on lake roosevelt. In this old dead tree about 50 yards away was this eagle with a snake in his claw. No idea what kind of snake it was but he had his lunch right there. We floated on by him and he sat there looking about. You can not see stuff like that in the city.
