90-54 .625 winning percentage (On pace for 101 Wins.) 3 games ahead of Oakland in the division. 8 games behind Boston for overall lead. 1st in run differential at +240 Team OPS+: 111 Team ERA+: 129
99.9% chance at making the postseason.
This place appears boring without me. Y'all need to step it up!
Framber Alert vs. Zimmerman
I know we're in the middle of a playoff run, but I think Altuve and/or Springer and/or Correa need a day off. Even though Springer and Altuve have had a little more success recently, they both look to be in pain a good deal. It won't matter if we win the division if those guys can't be near their A game in the postseason. Detroit is the team for them to have a day off (or two) against. And Correa has apparently reported that his back is not perfect and that he's trying to play through it and make adjustments that haven't been successful (obviously).
None of those guys have any statistical numbers or milestones that matter that they're going to reach so it doesn't hurt to give them some rest and let our AAA get in a little work. If we can't beat Detroit with our pitching staff anyways, we have a bigger problem.
On a side note, thanks or condolences to any posters that were involved with 9/11 or had family/friends involved. I work with a couple guys that helped at the site in NYC so I know it can be a rough day for some. Let's not ruin the thread with a lot of political or religious commentary. I just wanted to mention it.
And let's try to ease up on the negativity around here. We're watching another potential 100 win team right now battle it's ass off despite some key players playing hurt and we're in the middle of a great run. If that Boston-bias hadn't beat us in game 3 we'd still have a nice winning streak going. I'll try to stop being so argumentative as well.

What I think we should go with tonight:
Kemp LF Stassi C Bregman SS White 1B Gurriel or Davis 3B Gattis or Davis or Gurriel DH Marwin 2B Reddick RF Marisnick CF
I know people are going to think I'm crazy for Stassi hitting 2nd, but he's a patient hitter that will take some pitches and work walks. Plus, with Bregman behind him, he should see some good pitches to hit and he has some power. The idea needs to be to get as many people that can get on base well in front of Bregman and White.

I don't know if it is good to rest our top talented players....because look at the A's vs Orioles today (Fiers vs Cobb)....It is ironic, but I am actually concerned about Fiers, the Oriole hitters have not fared well against him....and the A's hitters have had good success against Cobb.... www.mlb.com/gameday/athletics-vs-orioles/2018/09/11/531576#game_state=preview,game_tab=,game=531576

Lets hope the Orioles can at least win one game in their series against the A's....and this weekend, the Rays take 2 of 3 from them......I tip my hat to the A's, they really are a scrappy, relentless bunch.

Plus, does it even matter if we get to the playoffs but our guys are hurt and exhausted and end up sucking?

Our guys seem to do even better under pressure. I think the fact that the A's are pressing the Astros is good in the long range scheme of things. It is knocking a little of the complacency off the edges and making our guys focus. So play on there Oakland and congratulations on a great season so far. To be the best you have to beat the best and right now I think that the A's are the second best team in baseball and Boston is third.
It will be fun to beat the Cubs in the World Series. Too bad it will only take 5 games.

People say that Correa's problem is about timing and you don't improve timing by getting a rest. Springer, Altuve, and Correa all three had nice rests while on the DL. Now it's time to work themselves back into top form and resting won't do it. Sitting those guys is the wrong thing to do. Now, since Jose and George may have reaggravated injuries last night, one or both could be held out today but i doubt it.

I expect a better game today because they should be rested......they looked tired yesterday after getting into Detroit at 4 in the morning. I would sue this lineup
Springer RF Altuve 2B Bregman 3B White DH Correa SS Gonzalez 1B McCann C Marisnick CF we need our best CF in this park Kemp LF

People give Rodriguez a lot of crap here because he’s a smirking pretty boy, but he loves the Astros. I can think of only a couple other national guys who like this team as much: Kurkjian, Kruk, etc.

Well this lineup just doesn't make any sense to me but whatever. At least Springer is getting a day off, I guess.

I’m wondering why they bothered to call Davis up. He hasn’t batted a single time in September. If they just wanted another body on the bench, but had no intention of playing him, why not call up Fisher? At least he could benefit the team as a pinch runner occasionally.

That is my main gripe with Hinch. He never plays the Call-Ups until they have sat on the bench for a good two weeks making sure they are stone cold when he does play them.

Well here it is. Hot off the clipboard:
Framber Valdez L 3-1 1.37 ERA
2B Jose Altuve R 3B Alex Bregman R 1B Yuli Gurriel R LF M. Gonzalez B SS C. Correa R RF Josh Reddick L DH Tyler White R C Brian McCann L CF Tony Kemp L
I don’t understand why he won’t sit Correa and give him a chance to heal before the playoffs.

Yeah, Correa needs a few days off. We certainly wouldn't be any worse with a Bregman/Gurriel or Bregman/Davis tandem on the left side.

McCullers threw a successful 40 pitch bullpen session today. According to Rotoworld it’s a regular day off for Springer.

Most of us complain when things are going badly but this forum is a lot nicer then other Astro forums I’ve read.
