By my count, the Astros have only won 41.5% of their challenges (including those initiated by the Astros and by the opponent) this season, with a streak of challenge losses recently. The thing is two of them were big and most likely cost the Stros two games.

Altuve and Gurriel hit well and the bullpen looked great.

Detroit playing us closer than they should. That is ok though, we win and keep our 3 game lead. We only need 16 more wins even if the A's run the table.

Luhnow has put together such a good bullpen. It's really come together. Astros have the pitching to repeat, if only they start hitting.

Like I said in another thread if the Astros win every series Oakland can't catch them.

Blummer's asking why the Stros can't win at home, but we know the real reason.

Magic # to clinch a playoff spot is 9.
To clinch the division it’s 15.

Just think about how good this team could be if the hitting would just kick in. This pitching staff is amazing. Starters, bullpen, new guys, old guys, they are all pulling their weight. With last year's team position players in place and effectively White taking Beltran's at bats there should be no stopping them. They will get it dialed in, just watch.

After winning a couple of 1 run games, we finally picked up a game on Pythagorus and now trail by 7 games.

The Astros won that game in spite of a .148 in-game BABIP... which reflects that horrible luck on line drives I was talking about. Not only the line drives that usually would produce hits, but also a couple stinging grounders by White and Marisnick that bounced off the third baseman and ended up going for outs.
The Tigers had Lady Luck on their side this game but thankfully couldn't pull off an upset.
I predict Astros win 10-1 tomorrow.

Looks to me like Gattis is trying to get the Pytharorean beard thing going this year.

With more normal batted ball luck today, the Astros would have had around 14 hits. I think the raw hitting skills are clicking for most players (exceptions being Correa, Reddick and McCann). Just some nights it seems like there's an invisible hand that is helping the opponent. When luck catches up to the Astros, they should explode for 18 hits or something.

Son, I have it on good authority that it's fans' jobs to cheer players on .. even if they're underachieving. You best get with the program.

Unless I have miscalculated, Correa is now 17 for 102 since coming off the DL and Hinch keeps him in the middle of the order. The fact that he continues taking center cut fastballs to get behind in the count proves he has no clue about why he isn't hitting. It is Hutchens' job to notice this and correct it. It is Carlos' job to make the adjustments. If he won't change, bench him. Oh, no......I posted something else negative. If Correa ever does anything with the bat that is positive, I will gladly post it. Unfortunately, he has done very little offensively to help this team They win in spite of him.

Texas being no-hit by the Angels “bullpen starters” in the 6th. A five pitcher no no so far.

AStros bullpen has a filthy 1.30 ERA for the month of September.
Shouldn't discount what the Blue Jays pen has done either... 2.50 this month for them. However their starting pitching has been horrible (ERA over 6.00 in September).
The Orioles starters have been even worse, their September ERA is 6.81.
Mariners and Angels are pitching well and the Astros will have to face them yet.
In general the Astros have good chances to get to 103 wins but they can't rest on their laurels.

By all rights, the Astros should make mincemeat of Daniel Norris and the Tigers tomorrow. Noon start time.
Norris has given up 3 HRs in his last 9 innings of work (vs STL and NYY) so the Astros should do some heavy hitting in this game.
Norris was shut down for all of May, June, July, and August and this will be only his 3rd start since returning.
He doesn't walk a lot of hitters; likes to throw strikes, for good or ill.
He's a lefty so I expect Reddick will have a chance to have a breakout game. He's hitting something like .285 against lefties this year.
