He hasn’t thrown a pitch in a long time...not anywhere near stretched out. You want him starting playoff games? With the off days between all playoff games, we should be able to pretty well function with a 3 man rotation of JV, Cole, and Kuechel. For an emergency 4th I'd pick the lefty/righty pick of Framber / McHugh. |

I'd go with James, if necessary ....and I am still scared of what Keuchel would do starting a playoff game.
The ideal scenario would be for Morton to be able to go........and that is possible.......and have both James and McCullers to come out of the pen.

Framber has been excellent as a starter and I think James' velocity is better suited out of the pen.

I think what they see from McCullers this week will go a long in determining who makes the playoff roster. Perfect situation is for both Morton and McCullers to be healthy and for James and Valdez to make the roster. But, for all of that to happen, Keuchel would have to be left off and no way does Hinch do that no matter how obvious it is that this is the right move. I would leave Keuchel, Harris, and Devenski all off the playoff roster.
I'd go with Verlander-Cole-Morton-Valdez as starters
Pen: James, McCullers, McHugh, Peacock, Sipp, Rondon, Pressley, Osuna
If we go with only 12, Rondon would be odd man out due to his ineffectiveness of late.

Is James starting tonight? If so, we'll get to see whether his success recently was a fluke. James is listed as tonight's starter. "Undecided" is listed for Wednesday which makes me think McCullers might get that start. |
