"Giles also said “the communication was lost” with the Astros" Throwing a FU at your manager looks like pretty clear communiation to me you numbnuts. The 5 era as a closer spoke pretty clearly too. "Then put up a slightly less miserable 4.58 ERA in 17 2/3 innings with the Jays." 100 piles Giles....King of varying levels of suckage. Need a 4th Ode installment if he keeps this up.

Giles is a nut case that has the mental makeup of a serial killer. So, he needed "baby steps"........No, he needed a boot up his ass.

Sounds like a change of scenery is doing him well. I do t mean his baseball ability, I mean mental health (yeah he has some issues). If he says he felt trapped that would obviously affect him. Why he felt trapped? I don’t know. Maybe it was the pressure of being on an actual contending team. If you’re not happy with your job or employer then it can effect performance. I’m not defending him, as I’ve never really liked him. All I’m saying is that him being somewhere else other than Houston is hopefully good for him, and he can focus on improving his game. Could be a JD Martinez type situation (with not the success as of yet)

It's interesting how some players absolutely flourish with some teams and not others. Morton loves it here and has been better than he ever has before, whereas Giles (outside of a strong regular 2017 season) has mostly been not great and has had attitude issues.

Morton is a level-headed man who absorbed what Strom was trying to teach him. I think Strom's opinion has played a key role in Luhnow acquiring guys like Cole, Rondon, Pressley, and Osuna. I look forward to seeing what Strom can do with talented young pitchers like Valdez and James. On the other hand, Giles is a loose cannon who probably rejected Strom's suggestions that would have made him a better pitcher. Nice that we could unload this idiot and get a great, young closer like Osuna to replace him.

“I’m actually enjoying the game more than I did for my entire tenure in Houston. It’s kind of weird to say that because I won a World Series with that team. But it’s like, I just felt trapped there. I didn’t feel like myself there. Overall, I felt out of place.”
Giles didn’t win shit. They won in spite of him. The balls on that guy.

By saying "I won a world series in Houston" proves he is delusional. He had nothing to do with the World Series or any part of the playoffs. If anything, AJ not putting him in games was a plus in allowing us to win the World Series. This dumbasss contributed absolutely nothing. Getting rid of him for Osuna could help us repeat.

He is a coward who wants to avoid having to pitch under pressure. He caved time and time again to prove he could not be counted on to close big games. I think he was insulted when sent in when he could not get a save and basically threw batting practice. He should do better on a team that can't win. What a joke he is and I am so relieved that we are rid of this piece of crap.

From Hinch: Giles isn't man enough to admit what happened in Houston was his fault so he has to blame the Astros organization. Good riddance to this gutless piece of crap.

Back in Cuba they know a lot about "banishing rituals". Probably a good idea to let Yuli set up one of those to make sure Giles doesn't try to bean one or more Astros hitters.

What's so hard about understanding his role? It's just like any other pitcher, get the other guys out.
Giles is not man enough to own up to his own shortcomings yet. Perhaps one day he will grow up. Perhaps not.

The Astros won the WS in spite of him. He was so pathetic that AJ finally realized he could not afford to use the guy if the Astros were going to have a chance to win the series.

When you are on a contender there are higher expectations for every player to perform well in order to win a championship. When you are on a losing team there is no pressure because nobody expects much from the team. You can just relax, go out on the field and have a good time with the guys. Some people are comfortable in a losing environment, but not comfortable with the pressure that comes with being in a winning environment. I think Giles is probably one of those people.
