Last year at this time, my hopes had never been higher. I fully believed they were the team that could win it all, and I even said anything less and I would be absolutely shattered (some of you may remember me posting that on the old board). This year I feel almost the same way; I fully believe they can win it all again, but I will not be as upset if they don't. The pressure of winning the first one is gone and I'm just happy to be back in the playoffs and ready to watch hopefully some good baseball.
With that said, Let's Play Ball and Defend H-Town!

A few of us who getting up there in years were starting to worry if we would be able to see the WS trophy hoisted in Houston in our lifetime. Now that worry has been lifted, I for one will be able to enjoy the show better without chewing my finger nails down to the knuckles. As Fan Graphs states no one else has a better chance than us. I think now the rallying cry is for us to be the first WS repeaters in 20 yrs. I'm up for it. Charge.....................................

Looking at the last month of baseball around MLB, surprise surprise, it's those LA Dodgers who seem to have the pedal to the metal in spite of their dismal start to the season.
Wouldn't a rematch be good? Although I imagine the fans of the other 28 teams would find it extremely dull.
I suspect the BoSox will be knocked out early and that the Astros' opponent in the ALCS would be someone else. But got to get past the Indians first.

I was very surprised to see that the Astros are now #1 in MLB in wRC+, the premier offensive team statistic. There is a tight knot of 5 teams at the top of the board in the range of 109-111 wRC+. Still, if the Astros could finish first in MLB in both wRC+ and ERA, that would be an amazing accomplishment. Usually teams have to develop their pitching at the expense of their offense and vice versa. To be tops in both categories is simply awesome.

One number that jumps out of that chart is how seldom the Indians strike out.
Just sort of suggests CLE will try to wear out the Astros starters. Pen is going to have a lot of work to do, it seems.

Given our talent this year and the momentum from last year, anything less than at least the AL pennant will be looked at as a failure by the baseball world.
