Why Snell over JV? He didn't reach 200 innings, and his SO rates and walk rate are nowhere near JV. JV has better WHIP. The only things Snell has over JV are the 2 things modern fans say no longer matter...ERA and Wins. And in far fewer innings pitched. I have a feeling the voters will lust over the 21 wins.

Even though he only pitched a partial year, I imagine Sale is getting some consideration too. 12-4, 1.97 ERA, 146 IP, 13.5 K/9. I believe I read somewhere that no starting pitcher with under 200 IP had ever won it Did not know that.... and Sale isn't even close.

I wonder how many times Walter Johnson would have won the Cy Young if such an award had existed in his day.
One factor Snell has in his favor is that JV has won the award twice already, so some voters may be reluctant to give it to the same guy a third time. it isn't really fair for them to let that influence their vote, but some people seem to have the idea of 'spreading the wealth around'.

Oh I forgot, those people are called communists.

You know what is better than 21 wins? Kate Upton and a Ford GT? Hell yes, I was going to say 22 wins, but your answer was way better.

Astros Indians at 1:05pm Friday.
Win the WS.....and I think the Astros got screwed on the start time.

Astros Indians at 1:05pm Friday. Win the WS.....and I think the Astros got screwed on the start time. It makes sense though. The Astros and Cleveland have had the longest time off. The wild card teams will have played 2 games just to get where we're starting at.

It reaffirms to me that Hinch should’ve received the MOY award last season.

As we should expect.....most pick the Astros......deepest pitching staff and deepest lineup when at their best. i agree......Houston wins it again.

Astros in their entire history had not ever won 22 in a month. If they win today, they will have done it twice this year. (May and September) Astros went 22-7 for July 2005

I knew he had won in 2011 and I thought he got it again in 2016 but that was the year Rick Porcello snuck in there for the top vote. In that case, JV's chances may be a little better.

I like the Day Game starting time. In 2018, the Astros went 34-17 (.667) in day games.
In night games, they were "only" 69-42 (.622). Playing in the early afternoon might give the Astros a slight edge.
CLE was not shabby in day games this year; they had a .610 winning pct in those games.
