1-0 win is exciting, 10-0 wins are dull, but much better for the blood pressure.

Let's imagine the teams had implemented the minor league rule about starting extras with a runner on 2nd.
In the top of the 10th, AJ Ellis's grounder to first would have moved the Padres' Designated Runner to third. But the following two K's would have ended the top of the inning.
Then in the bottom of the 10th, Fisher would probably have been named the Designated Runner. McCann's single would have brough him home.
The rule would not have changed the winner. It would have shaved about 5 minutes off the game time. And the conclusion of the game would have been much less entertaining, though no doubt the home crowd would have enjoyed the win.

Giants and Dodgers have used something like 20 pitchers in their 14 inning game so far. Seems like just a few days ago the Dodgers were involved in another marathon game.

well McCutchen hit a walk off homer to win that game in the 14th when his team was down 5-4. Dodgers fall to 2-6. I keep thinking things will turn around for the Blue, but if this keeps up, they may have to start thinking Wildcard.

It's 8 games into the season. I doubt they're too torn up about it They're professionals and they will slog through it. But they must be exhausted as well as disappointed. Two marathon games in one week. Bullpen can't be happy. Astros pen, on the other hand, is struggling to find enough innings for each guy to pitch.

I knew luck was on our side when we survived the leadoff double Giles gave up. I am more than sick of this guy, On a similar note, I am wondering how much longer the Astros want to stomach a DH who is striking out more than 30% of the time and hitting no home runs. Sure we're only 9 games in, but Gattis was uninspiring the entire time in spring training too. And he couldn't hit in the postseason much (though he drew a lot of walks -- I give him that). Meanwhile, Tyler White is hitting like gangbusters in Fresno and AJ Reed isn't far behind him. Heck even SuperJack Mayfield crushed a grand slam today. I've thought for the past year that White would out-hit Gattis if made the regular DH but that will remain a hypothetical until such a time as Hinch decides Gattis too big of an offensive hole.

The Athletics are doing their best to keep the Astros in first place Also, Brendan McCurry came in to close out today's AAA game and got 4 outs, two of which were strikeouts, while giving up no hits and no walks. For the people worried about Giles, I really think McCurry has a shot at outperforming him.

I’m pretty much over the Killer G’s. Any production we get out of them is bonus as far as I’m concerned.

I wonder how much booze Hosmer had last night after that intramural softball misplay he had to end the game.

Is anybody else expecting the "hit" to be changed to an error after review?

Yes. Where did you find our link, marshall? We want to know which ones work so we can continue to bump them, hoping to find other lost souls (like OMB)

I haven’t been able to watch or post during the last two games. My inlaws are visiting 😳 and we’ve been entertaining them. Guess I missed two of the more non exciting games of the year so far. Can’t believe how we won this game. I don’t know if over seen anything like that. Wow!

We definitely need another option for a DH. Giles had ONE good game and the rest have been awful. The worst part is taking so many third called strikes. Give somebody a chance, even White or Reed who have never impressed at this level. I still see evidence that we needed to sign another bat in the off-season

I just saw a replay of the Bregman walk off "hit". If Fisher was not running like a mad man from the time the ball was hit til he crossed the plate it would not of been a walk off hit. A lot of guys just trot when they see a hit that should be an out. Good for Fisher and for us that he did not.

Is anybody else expecting the "hit" to be changed to an error after review? I thought that errors only count if the fielder makes contact with the batted ball and doesn’t make an out. The latter happened but not the former.

Am I the only one who thought Cole was reading his comments in the post-game interview in the clubhouse?

And how much snatch Bregs got... He’s still getting it for Game 5. I was thinking that Biggio would be proud of him. He never took time off between the lines. He ran out every ground ball at speed.
