I think we all agree that this is the only major award we'll have a player in the running to win. As well as Bregman played, Betts is a virtual lock with JD and Trout finishing 2nd and 3rd. I think Bregman has a chance at the top-3 but likely 4th or even 5th with Jose Ramirez having an excellent year. I expect Altuve to finish in the top-20, maybe the top-10.
However, if batters faced and innings pitched factor into the voting for the voters, Verlander has a legitimate shot again for the CY. A breakdown of the four most likely top candidates is below.
Verlander led in WHIP and Strikeouts while only finishing one inning behind Kluber for the league lead. Unfortunately, even though Snell didn't reach 200 IP, I think the voters will look at the Wins and ERA he had.
