These Cheatin' Astros need to play better tonight, or find a better way of cheating.

Bregman needs some protection in that lineup. Whatever strategy they’re employing on pitching, it is working. It would be helpful if Yuli drove in runners. It’d also help if Marwin wouldn’t swing at any low breaking ball.

This is where Correa not being fully healthy hurts us. There is no real threat after Bregman if Yuli isn't rocking.
I'm sure I'm the only one, but I'd like to see Gattis at DH today. No statistical reason behind it for once, I'd just like to see if he might spark something. Give him 4 ABs and see if he can run into one. If nothing else, the guy did a fantastic job getting on base for us in the 2017 postseason. He had OBPs of .500 or better in both the ALDS and WS.

Reluctantly, and I use that term as an understatement, I agree with your take on Gattis. As annoying as it was to bench a spark plug like Straw for ice cold pitching like Rondon and Smith, you’ve got to do something with Gattis. I mean come on, justify his place on the ALCS roster.

If White hadn't gone cold that would be one thing, but he looks like he is trying too hard. I'd say put Kemp back at DH, but we're severely lacking power.

Using Gattis can't hurt. White isn't hitting. Kemp is so dumb that he swings 3- leading off an inning when he is the tying run in the late innings, Correa is being over-powered, etc. I still think I'd put Marwin in the cleanup spot and move Gurriel down.

Got to admit, Kemp's catch last night is a Top "5" defensive gem in Houston post season history. I haven't been one of his fans, but that last night was clutch,

Any player at this level who is hitting 9th in the order should have enough brains not to swing 3-0 leading off the 7th with his team down a run. It is bad baseball leading off any inning, but, was particularly dumb in that situation. I hope he sits tonight.

Speaking of Gattis..., if there was ever any doubt before that this is his last season with Houston, there should be no doubt now. When the ONLY reason for a guy being on the roster is to fill the role of DH and his manager doesn’t have enough confidence in him to have him in the lineup every game in the playoffs, he has no future with the team beyond his current contract.

I want to be a Gattis fan, so I may try to find excuses for him. Having said that, does everyone think his hitting was compromised because of his sketchy playing time?

Oh sure. As soon as White came up and showed what he was capable of (despite struggling a little right now), there was no reason to keep Gattis for the money he'd likely get (or a QO). Now if he was willing to take a one or two year deal for just a few million? I'd have that conversation. Anything more than that and he isn't needed by us right now. Just like with my arguments about being careful with who we sign for a FA catcher, we need to keep money for the core players and for our soon-to-exist pitching holes. That being said, I really like the guy and I hope he gets a fair deal somewhere.

Astros haven't won a Game 4 at home since 2005. I hope Adam Everett is invited to throw the first pitch

Very few players succeed with limited or erratic playing time.
