After reading the rule posted on Clutchfans and remembering the Bartman game, MLB blew it. Yes they did. The fielder has a right to the ball if it is directly above the wall or on the field side of the wall. Once the fielders glove breaks the plane directly above the wall and reaches beyond directly above the wall into the bleacher side of that plane, he does so at his own risk and it is not fan interference. Mookie’s glove broke the plane above the wall and he reached over into the fan side of that plane. AJ should have informed Joe West that the remainder of the game was being played under protest. |

In the old days, the call used to be based on the edge of the wall as a line of demarcation. Everything pass that line is fair game. But post Bartman............ |
