Smith's injury could be a blessing in disguise. By August 1, he may be getting into some minor league rehab games and we could see him at MMP by mid-August. 

By the time the postseason rolls around, he would be a fresh arm in the bullpen at a time when the other guys are tired and sore. 

Britton had a similar injury last year if I recall, and he held 'em scoreless the entire month of September.
