Does that mean they’re on the market for a 1B?

Does that mean they’re on the market for a 1B? Could mean that Tyler White is going to play first base. We need to KEEP MARWIN.

Most people are expecting Marwin to get a 4 year 50 million+ deal. That length of a deal for Marwin does not dove tail with what seems to be the long term plans of the team. We start to get pressed on payroll limitations when we start making moves to determine what to do about the top of our rotation. To remain competitive we have to have the flexibility to figure that out. We can plan around the loss of Marwin but cannot plan around the loss of both Verlander and Cole.
To resolve the math issues of the payroll management we have to look at this year and beyond. Obviously the decision has been made that Marwin does not fit into the slots allowed for.
At present only Altuve has been extended out into the 2020’s. Having 2 top veteran hitters under long term contract costs about 50 million and three solid bats will cost about 40 million, then you have to fill the rest of the roster with veterans at minimal deals or pre-arbitration youngsters. Having 2 top of the rotation starters costs again about 50 million, then you have to fill your other starters with lower cost guys so that you have adequate money to fill out your bullpen.

I was not impressed with White playing first base. Marwin and Yuli are both better defensively.

Could you see Tyler white in a package for Paul Goldschmidt?
Js. If they get Nelson Cruz. And trade for Paul Goldschmidt they would essentially add the power they need. They could just focus on PITCHING

Makes sense to me if White keeps hitting. Go get a catchers, DH, and a solid SP in case Whitley isn't ready and call it a day.

Can’t see Luhnow sending a load of prospects to Arizona for a guy who will be a free agent next offseason.
