Some sites are saying that Tucker for Realmuto is a natural trade. I have some severe misgivings but know that the trade would move us into a much better place for next year

One prospect for an MLB-proven all-star catcher with a couple years of control? Without hesitation. Sign a veteran LFer and then focus on extensions and another SP.

I am a fan of Kyle Tucker, but I would not think twice about making that trade.......do it.

It's much easier to find good left fielders than it is to find good (great?) catchers. I'd send Tucker to Miami on the first flight available.

No brainer.....Send him
However, watch the Marlins get greedy and insist that that it will take a Tucker-Whitley package to land Realmuto.
In that case.... HELL NO!!!!

I have a feeling they won't just accept just Tucker, but I don't think they would require both Tucker and Whitley. Probably Tucker and maybe one other prospect.

One of the other packages I had heard was Alvarez, JB Bukauskus, and Martin. Now there really is no way I would do that.

Now if you look at the voodoo economics of this deal it would be Tucker +82.3mm and Realmuto 95 million so yeah I guess we would have to add someone like Valdez to get the deal done.

Is there a “yes, but only if you get Brantley or Cruz” option?

Maybe we could trade Marisnick, Martes and Moran for him. Lol. I agree we need to keep all of our arms.

So, I guess they’re hellbent on getting Realmuto it seems?

If the Marlins rejected that deal, they could keep JTR. I think I would be more comfortable with giving them Tucker and some lower Top 30 type prospects.

It’s not like getting Realmuto makes the Astros automatic world champions. They still need a reliable DH.

Trading Whitley would be a grave mistake. Luhnow shouldn’t even entertain the idea given the possible exits of a couple big pitchers in a year.

Trading Whitley would be a grave mistake. Luhnow shouldn’t even entertain the idea given the possible exits of a couple big pitchers in a year. It would be professional incompetence to trade either Whitley or Martin. I hate the idea of trading Tucker but love the idea of getting Realmuto. So if this is a World Series or Bust kind of year then go get Realmuto, Greinke, Goldschmidt, Pollard, and Cruz and let’s all have a Merry Christmas.

Agreed but he is productive while he is in there. If we trade Tucker we need another productive outfielder who can man his position effectively
