Cool video. One mistake, though. The narrator states (shortly after 5:40) that JV knows he will be saddled with a no decision 'at best'. That it's not true. If the Tigers had taken the lead in the top of the ninth and not relinquished it in the bottom of the ninth, Verlander would have been credited with a win even if he never faced another batter after finishing the eighth.

Not sure why he said no decision. If anything it would have been a loss since they were already down 2-1

Not sure why he said no decision. If anything it would have been a loss since they were already down 2-1 That would be the worst case, batman007. And indeed it was the result. But what he was (incorrectly) saying was that the best case scenario for JV at that point in time was the possibility of being let off the hook for the loss and getting a ND rather than a loss. |
