Coach, I don't agree with you much on player evaluation, but I can sympathize with you with the problems caused by diabetes having a significant problem with it myself.
At one point, I was taking so much insulin they had to give me the concentrated version which is five times standard strength. I was taking 100 units of one type of insulin 3 times a day and 40 units a day insulin of the concentrated (200 standard unit equivalent) twice a day. that's the equivalent of 700 units a day. It bothered my Primary care doctor enough that he wouldn't authorize visits to my diabetic specialist (endocrinologist?) anymore.
That's when he sent me to a vein doctor and authorized the stomach bypass surgery that greatly improved my situation. While I'm back on pills, I've been off insulin for about ten years.
I'm healthier now at 60 than I was at 45. But it still takes about a year and a half for a blister on my foot to fully heal. It has to burst. scab and than slowly heal, all the while it is waiting to bleed just enough to form a new scab and start all over. Thank God they don't recommend peroxide to clean the wound anymore. That used to do more damage than a diabetics system could overcome and made every wound permanent.
I do hope you're recovery goes well.
Thanks, Marshall. We all have our opinions on player evaluations. I have a charcot foot due to diabetes and had an ulcer on the bottom of the foot that took over a year to heal. This was about three years ago. Right before Christmas, I started having problems with it again....ended up with a large absess that required surgery. I am on the mend, but, it could be slow. Let me know how the healing is progressing. Slow and steady is better than rinse and repeat.

I am taking Pro-Stat Advanced Wound care and some Juven that provide a lot of protein. Both are highly recommended.

Of course it wasn't quite that simple. The first vein surgery lead to a case of Septic Shock (50$ Mortality rate) that put me in the hospital for six weeks and the prep for the stomach bypass was a high protein diet that triggered Kidney failure (4% Kidney function). But in the end it has worked out.

How much weight did you lose following bariatric surgery?

How much weight did you lose following bariatric surgery? My weight peaked when I pegged the scale at 480. How much above 480 I was, I don't know. But when I dealt with the septic shock and I lost 60+ lbs in 10 days to 420. I started my first prep there and lost 30 lbs before the Kidney failure prevented the bariatric surgery. After recovery, I went on a modified prep diet and was at 370 when it was done. I lost an additional 100 lbs after the surgery to just under 270 after a bout with the flue, but have slowly let it slip back to 300 over the last 6 or 7 years. But I can move and do things that I couldn't do before.
BTW, I grew back to 6'2" after having shrunk to 6' while I was at my heaviest.

Astros continuing to be encouraging today vs STL.
Correa got an RBI double and the way he looked on TV earlier in the week, there was no reason to believe his back is still bothering him.
Kemp continues to be a hot hitter with a single and Stassi also got a hit.
Framber wasn't able to Framberize the Cards as he failed to finish the 2nd inning. However Brendan McCurry did a nice job of bailing him out.

McCurry got 5 outs, 2 of which were strikeouts. No hits, no walks.
When McCurry's hot, he's hot. He's got like 4 versions of his curveball which really makes it hard for hitters even when they're guessing curveball.
He's not on the 40-man yet but with trades and injuries, a place might open for him this year. I think the team would be fine should McCurry get 20 major league innings this year.

Kind of funny to hear the TV crew doing the radio broadcast today.
And they're letting Julia do play by play: "He's safe at 2nd... uh, no, he's out."
Oh and White throwing across his body over the third base bag all the way to Yuli for the out at first. Couldn't see it but it sounded a little Bregmanesque the way Blummer narrated it.

Anyone hear anything about Cionel Perez? He hasn't appeared in a ST game yet. The last thing the pitching staff needs is another injury.

Dawson and Straw on base at the same time and with Fisher up to bat. That's some serious speed there.

with the bases loaded, Correa hit the ball 400ft... just foul, next to the foul pole.

DAwson successfully tagged up and scored on a shallow fly ball to RF.
Sac fly was by Reed, at least that is something good for him.

Tyler White on twice today with a walk and a HBP. Bases loaded now for Stassi unless Hinch wants to change pitchers.
It's funny how getting HBP increases your OBP (even though you did nothing to get hit... well unless you pull a Biggio and lean into the pitch). Whereas if you hit the ball sharply to short and the SS bobbles the ball because you hit it so hard, you can reach on an error. In that case, your OBP and BA both go down even though you did something good, i.e. make hard contact and cause an error.

Stassi with the clutch 2-out, bases loaded single. Plated two runs. I expect him to keep his OPS right around .750 this year but he has the power to get it up to .800. I just have to think he's a better hitter than most people give him credit for.

Well Ken Giles made his spring debut. Anyone hear about it?
Kenny gave up 2 hits and 3 walks totaling 4 earned runs and... failed to record an out.

We should see Bregman in tomorrow's game. Lord knows he will cover it in exquisite detail on his social media accounts.

Straw lost track of how many outs there were. Caught a fly ball with a runner on first, then tossed the ball into the stands thinking it was the third out.
Turns out there had only been one out and in retrospect, he could have thrown on to first to double off the runner, who had already rounded second anticipating the ball would fall in for a hit.
The fan knew what was up and kindly threw the ball back to him. Had he not, I'm not sure what would have prevented the runner from scoring.
Let that be a lesson he'll never forget.
Then again Gattis and his triple play will always take the cake.

So Martin goes 2.2 IP and gives up a solo HR. That's 2 HRs now he's given up in ST.
In the minors, he only allowed 8 HRs over 155 IP. His HR/FB rate in AAA will be something to watch.

Kent Emanuel pitching... gives up another solo HR. Available pitchers left to finish the game include Guduan, Armenteros, Sneed, Donato.

Tomorrow it's JV on the mound, Altuve at 2B, and Bregman at DH. Gonna start looking more and more like real Astros baseball.

One of Correa's recent doubles was clocked at 113 mph exit velocity, which is very reassuring re: back issues.

I'll believe he's "back" when I start seeing checked swings and no grimace.
