I'll take the extra run, but with that shift why doesn't Altuve drop a bunt down the first base line?

Yankee defense is their kryptonite. We'd get more Ws against them just by forcing defensive miscues

Normally I’d say no big deal with Bregs, but he was volunteering to leave the field.

Doubt Bregman plays tomorrow plus Thursday is an off day.

Give Bregs a couple days to rest. He'll be alright.

We all know they revamped the team, but the games I watched against the Red Sox, their pen was suspect. They had the hot start last season. But they are scoring runs in bunches.

We need Brantley to start hitting like he can.... Three hits with two doubles ain’t good enough to suit ya?

Bregman did a great job in the 7th inning by changing the pace of things. Springer and Altuve had made 2 quick outs and were giving Holder an easy inning. Then Bregman came up and took Holder to a full-count situation, which is when the magic started to happen.
Last season, there were many games where the Astros just got in a rut of giving opposing pitchers easy innings that didn't really wear them down.
But the damage they've done against Treinen and Ottavino, too, has been based on making a relief pitcher throw way more pitches than he is used to.

So far this season, three AL teams have hit better than the Astros: Mariners, Yankees, and Twins.
I can see the Yankees keeping up the good hitting all year, but not the Mariners or Twins. If the Astros can be the AL's second-best offensive team and in the Top 3 in pitching, it should give the club a very good chance in the postseason.
Only the Rays and Tigers have out-pitched the Astros in terms of WHIP. Cleveland and Toronto deserve honorable mention as well, and would round out the AL's top 5 pitching staffs so far.
Considering the difficulty of the Astros' schedule so far, the club has done very well.

With 9 stolen bases through 12 games, the Astros are on pace to swipe 122 bags this season. That would be the best running game the team has had since 2014.
If the Astros could steal just one more base than that, they would have the best running game since 1999.
Even though the Astros haven't been putting up a whole lot of runs this year, their team OPS of .757 is just a little off pace from what they did in April 2017 (.765) and is quite a bit better than in April of any recent year except for the WS championship year.
The 2017 team broke out offensively in May and never looked back. Where as for 2018, 2016, and 2015, it took until June for the bats to really come around.
If the team can hit well over the next couple of weeks, it will bode well for the prospect of doing what the 2017 team did in terms of keeping the offense on fire for most of the season.

funny comments from Yankees fans over on one of their forums: "Boone’s boneheaded decision to pull Tanaka after 78 pitches last night comes back to bite us again tonight. Unnecessarily taxed Britton/Ottavino, making them unavailable in a game where they were forced to rely on second-tier relievers such as Holder and Green. What a horrible manager." it wasn't until I got to see the NY broadcast of the game that I saw Kemp falling down on the run from 3B to Home.
Now the whole situation makes sense.

Osuna has now thrown 3 nights in a row. The hitters really need to give the bullpen a big lead today so that there is no thought of bringing Osuna back for a fourth night in a row.

The .250 to start the game didn't suit me. Uh oh! Someone was caught being a Negative Nancy! I wasn't being negative so much as making a statement of what we needed. I have no doubt that, if healthy, Brantley WILL maintain a .300ish AVG (which he needs to maintain his other percentages).
