I bring the Stros bad luck. I turned it off when we were down. I had to work in the pasture most of the afternoon. Turned on my computer and boom. Astros win. Anyone else miss Milo? I miss Gene Elston.........Milo was a blowhard who thought he was perfect.

Tyler White is a string bean compared to Daniel Vogelbach.

I have to admit, when I woke up and saw that the game only lasted 2:50:00, I assumed it must have been a loss because that's normally only enough time to play 8.5 innings.
The way the Astros played the first half of the game, that seemed like a fair assumption.
In the 2nd inning, there was a GIDP that could have been prevented with a more aggressive running game. Had Brantley & Correa pulled off a double steal, there would have been a sac fly RBI and Diaz at most would have grounded into one out.
Springer and a couple others were giving up easy 1-pitch outs and it seemed like the team was happy with 8 wins and wanted more than anything else to get on the plane to Oakland.
Even with some bad luck for Yuli in the game, they were able to string together those hits against Marco and that was reminiscent of how the Astros of the 80s used to play.
The offense needs to build some big leads in Oakland so that Osuna doesn't have to pitch every game. That will come back to bite them down the road.

The team is content with not moving runners that much. Now that Bregman injured his hamstring, he’ll be stuck at first base when Brantley hits, which provides the opposition with tailor-made DP’s.

Some early observations;
The Astros are 2nd in baseball in batting average. no big surprise here and it should stay about here the rest of the year They are 18th in runs scored - no way this stays the same and recently it has picked up They are 5th in team era - not as good as last year but still good They have been caught stealing more times than anyone else in the league - base stealing success is only slightly above 50%- team speed is an issue They have turned the least number of dps defensively - no way this continues and when the stats level out the pitching will be helped out somewhat They have hit into the 2nd most dps offensively.- what is up with the ground balls. Having so many guys on base increases the odds of this happening.
11-5 - all things considered not too shabby.

In my opinion, the extreme shifts the team uses affects the likelihood of double plays turned unless, of course, the hitter directs the ball toward the one infielder playing somewhat near the base. Too often, the fielder either is too far from the base or has to make a long throw for the fielders choice, or if they want two, they also have to make another long throw to first base. As far as the steals go, I’m not too worried because they don’t seem to go often. The last CS was on Gurriel, but he rarely tries for one and also slid way too early on his attempt.

Wtf Stassi. Swing the f*cking bat. Don't tell me you are waking up and realizing that Stassi is a joke who needs to be released. Hardly. We have nobody else ready to replace him yet, and if you watched the games you would see that he has actually had some better ABs his last couple games. It's hard for anybody to get in a groove offensively when they only play 1 out of every 3-4 games. (You were a coach, right? You should know that...) I know you're busy yanking it over Jake's lucky early start, but I don't make judgements on players a 10th of the way into the season.

One thing I’ve noticed about Cole that’s similar to McHugh is when he hangs that curveball, he gets hit really hard. They don’t seem to have much margin for error with that pitch. Going back I was thinking about Darryl Kile, when he was in he is prime he had probably the best breaking ball in MLB. He even at that point reinvented himself coming up with the "Laredo" pitch, throwing it sidearm to give the hitter a different look.

I think that’s what happened in DK’s no-no.

Caminiti’s death shook me more than DK because around ‘97 was when I started really getting into baseball. Caminiti was clutch and was one of those rare Astros who came through in the postseason besides Ausmus. He was one of my favorites, and his end really sucked.
