He could do it, but I think they put Osuna in for the 9th to get some work.

Only 98 pitches. Let him start the 9th and have Osuna warming up.

I like the 8th inning HRs even though some call it garbage time...

I'm supposed to be writing a research paper about the Amish measles outbreak of 2014, but this game is too good to quit watching.

Verlander makes it look so easy when he’s on his game.

Altuve had the HR in garbage time last night but he still looks bad. taking strikes......swinging at pitches out of the zone and hitting into DP's. He is in one of his funks right now. He is a better hitter when he doesn't try to pull the ball.

Hey, look...there's Joke shitting the bed again with men in scoring position. Hinch doesn't give a damn since he is in the game for his defense. Notice how he starts when Verlander is pitching.......not a coincidence. He needs to be out there with a fly ball pitcher on the mound. We have other guys paid to drive in runs......Jake is paid to play defense. Most people have figured that out

My brain hurts after watching Astros and Rockets simultaneously. But it was fun since both teams won. I can’t believe the Clippers beat the Warriors. Fun times 😊

that was pretty much the perfect game from a fan perspective. Astros hitting well and hitting for power. Starting pitcher could have gone the distance if asked, but hey, why not Framberize your opponent for dessert just because you can.
Diaz looking more solid defensively and his early season jitters seem behind him. The only negative thing I can recall from this game is REddick trying to steal off a really bad jump. But if he is hitting HRs, who really cares.
The fact that the Astros have put up an MLB-leading team OPS in the mid-.800s, and against some of the toughest competition in the AL no less, suggests something team-wide occurred this spring regarding offensive strategy. Team Oppo%, LineDrive%, and HardContact% are both up noticeably this year, and that seems to be largely the work of a good hitting coach.
One of the results of more line drives, more opposite field hitting, and harder contact is that this season, 31% of batted balls in play are falling for hits, whereas last year it was only 29%. That difference of 2 percentage points might not seem like a lot, but when you consider that in an average game the team puts around 30 balls in play, that extra 2% works out to a lot more runs scored.
Despite all the high scoring-games recently, the Astros still have the best team WHIP and the best opponent batting avg against... so for one of those fairly rare moments in time, the same team is tops in both offense and pitching.

Isn't Reddick one of the guys Nathangarza wanted us to trade?

Just thinking a bit about the implications of getting that team BABIP up a couple of percentage points...
Last season, the Astros had 1390 total hits based on a team BABIP of .289. Just doing a quick and not entirely precise calculation here, if the Astros can maintain their team BABIP at the current rate of .310 for the whole 2019 season (and this seems plausible given that the higher BABIP this year is due more to new hitting approaches than simple luck), then the Astros ought to end up with around 1485 total hits in 2019.
By comparison, last year's champion BoSox team got 1509 hits, leading to 876 runs. The 2017 champion Astros score 896 total runs.
If we want to forecast the 2019 Astros total run production, it would be approx. 1485 hits / 1.72 hits/run = 863 runs or 5.33 runs per game.
This is just to say that with the new hitting approaches from Reddick, Yuli, White, and others, what we are seeing is truly a championship-caliber offense, one that rivals that of the 2018 BoSox and the 2017 Astros.
