Don't look now, but that Tyler White comes into this game with a 130 wRC+, not too far off from the 144 he put up last year, and well above his Steamer predictions down around 112.
All of White's getting-on-base has largely outweighed the lack of HRs, which are due to come in time. For whatever reason, White tends to hit his HRs in clusters.
He is the only Astro I can remember to have homered in 3 consecutive plate appearances, though the 3 PA's were spread out over 2 days. Vs the Twins, no less.
League average offensive production is by definition scaled to a wRC+ of 100, so you could say White is helping his team's offense 30% more so than the average hitter. The current Astros' team wRC+ is 131, tops in the MLB. The Dodgers lead the NL right now at 125.
