Do you guys remember those days. Those 100 Game losing seasons. I was thinking today how many Astros Fans were really mad about Jim Crane buying the Astros and they would never win anything. Crane went out and Got Jeff Luhnow. I never see those posters that kept trashing Crane at every chance.

That's what always kept me positive. |

I cheered when Crane bought the team to deliver us from Drayton McLane dumping good players to keep from paying them. I got so sick of that old bastard saying he was doing all he could to "make us a champion" while he refused to pay the players he had to stay and get the help we needed to win. He forced Hunsicker to trade Billy Wagner because he trashed Drayton for not getting them help when they needed it. I welcomed Crane to get rid of Drayton. |

We had a lot of success under Drayton for a long time, and he kept our only two HoFers here in Houston even when it probably hurt the team's chances. He put teams on the field that were good enough to win it all.
That being said, it was time for a change once we went stagnant, and I think Crane has done virtually a perfect job so far.

I admit I trashed Crane right up to the point he started raising payroll to land high-priced veterans. Since that was my main beef with him I cheered when Crane bought the team to deliver us from Drayton McLane dumping good players to keep from paying them. |

On the old site there were some fly by niters that would come in and say the Astros would never win under Crane as he will not spend the money. In 8 Years he has produced a WS which owner before him can claim. And has this team poised to win for a few more years. Those guys have crawled back under the rock they came from. IN a couple other forums he was hated for supposedly be a Racist at his other business. |

How do you figure? Crane's only had the team for 8 years. If you accidentally dropped your phone and caught it before it hit the ground, Drayton would be there to yell, “Champions!” |

He among others also claimed that Crane was Racist on his other Business and also crying he would never spend the money and would be selling as soon as he would make a profit.
