PRIME MINISTER OF DEFENSE.........DAMN RIGHT  That was a nice catch, but he’s still in a run deficit because of hitting into a triple play followed by hitting into a double play. So he saved one run on defense, and blew 5 or 6 on offense our leader in that department is on the IL |

Jake isn't so bad as 4th outfielders go. His replacement won't be an All-Star either Not expecting that. I just expect his replacement to be a bench player like Marisnick should be most of the time. |

Right before she cons him into killing her dislikeable husband. I knew at least a dozen guys like that 40 years ago who would go brain numb dead over a POA. Still probably that way, as some things never change. Classic. |

There were some silver linings in this game at least –
White Sox had to use Colome for a second straight night, thus decreasing the risk the Astros have to face him tomorrow.
Astros still managed to outhit the White Sox, so 9 times out of 10, the Astros probably win with similar hitting and pitching.
Good to finally see Thyago at the major league level. Lots has been written about him but now the scouts have a little bit better book on him.
Good for Rodgers to pitch in a low leverage situation. He may well become a solid bullpen contributor this year and emergency starter to have on hand when the need arises.
On the negative side –
The double plays are reaching ridiculous levels. I get not sending Aledmys with the bad leg and all, but guys like Bregman need to be swiping second to avoid the DP. And the man at the plate needs to elevate that ball with a runner at first. The Astros have to be MLB's most GIDP-happy team over the past two seasons. It's a horrible habit to get into and carry into the playoffs.
The need for an electronic strike zone appeared again today. James gave up the slam after going down 1-0 on a pitch that was probably a strike. And not the only bad call against James either. Had the count been in James' favor, the slam may well not have occurred.
It's always hard to sweep a four-game series. Astros have a good chance to take it tomorrow.

People seem pretty critical of appearances and behavioral mannerisms whenever a player doesn't play well. It's not like the players are trying to struggle. It would be one thing if these guys were asshats or something like Carlos Gomez, but I'm not sure why we're hating on our own guys so much. Criticize their performance for sure, but some of the other stuff (not liking a guy because he hops in a swing, chews his gum, has an arm tattoo, etc.) seems unnecessary. It doesn't bother me, it just seems excessive at times. |
